Re: Around The NBA:2016-2017
Actually there are many teams in need of a rebounding big + backup PG but they don't want to give anything for them as finals are set between 2 teams for a while now. I still expect a Kanter+Payne package exploratory talks in mid-season but I don't expect a trade.

As a third team and pick up some pieces or get Melo on the thunder?

I don't think Melo is waiving his no-trade clause to come to OKC. It would have to be as a 3rd team helping facilitate. It looks like Melo will end up in Boston, Cleveland or LA. The Clippers would probably need a 3rd team since I don't think the Knicks would want to keep Blake with Porzingis there, and I don't think the Clippers are going to want to gut their bench for Melo with the injury issues that CP3 and Blake have had.
Something like Oladipo, Singler and Sabonis to NY for Blake with Melo going to the Clippers would work from a salary stand point. Oladipo would give the Knicks a good SG and Sabonis would give them a young big to pair with Porzingis. The question would be does Blake sign long-term? You'd almost have to be guaranteed that he would before you could consider that move.
I think OKC is unlikely to do anything significant at the trade deadline, although it is possible that something unexpected could develop.

La is not giving Blake to get Melo so don't even bother with that line.
“If you're getting stops and you're making threes and the other team's not scoring, that's when you're going to see a huge point difference there,” coach Billy Donovan said.

Nobody's giving up anything of value to take on Melo's contract.

I would probably quit watching if we gave up anything more than Cameron Payne for Melo. I realize even that's not possible due to salaries. I have never have liked him.

Either butler or hoiberg isn't making it to next season in Chicago. I'd guess it's the one who hasn't been great.

Scott has Washington rolling, so happy for him, he's by far my favorite ex member of the organization

Going to see them in Pihilly, looking forward to it.
PS if you didn't see, we're gonna try a "joint game thread" w/ the Wizards fans on 2/13.

Re: Around The NBA:2016-2017
Westbrook may average a triple-double this year, but Harden has had two 50 point triple-doubles. Which, if we're being honest, is out of this world impressive.
Granted, he got the 50 point triple-double via the Rockets (mostly) unnecessarily intentionally fouling him down the stretch when they were already down by 2 possessions with less than 20 seconds left in the game.

Re: Around The NBA:2016-2017
Harden has been pretty much as impressive as Russ all year. Give Russ those shooters and i think he'd average 15 assists, but put harden on this team and he's giving you an efficient 35/8/8

Re: Around The NBA:2016-2017
On another note, the Pelicans last four games have been just...weird; really, really weird.
They lost to the Nets, with Davis playing, by nearly 30 while giving up 143 points. And they lost to us by 9 in a game that, really, was almost never in doubt.
On the flip side, without Davis, they beat the Cavs. And tonight, with Davis playing, they beat the Spurs by 16.
That's a very strange four game stretch.

Paul Millsap literally played an hour of NBA basketball today. 60:07. That's insane.

So today's had a 4 OT game, Indy beat Houston, Orlando beat Toronto, and Philly's in the midst of a 20 point comeback. Weird.

Coming in Houston had lost 6 of their last 10, Toronto 5 out of 6, and Chicago 6 out of 10 plus their dysfunction. Results seem weird but based on the way teams are playing it's not surprising. It seems like only the wizards and warriors are really clicking right now.
