Featured Posts! Would you like to contribute?

Post#1 » by batsmasher » Tue Jan 31, 2017 12:59 am

We're all about trying new things around here so we have another post format we're going to try out.

Featured posts are fairly similar to a normal thread you'd post but there a few differences:

  • The post remains stickied for the 2 weeks that it is featured
  • They are a much longer form than normal threads (at least 6 paragraphs or so, but we're looking for something that would rival an article on a sports blog)
  • You have an editing team behind you. We are aiming to get a solid core number of posters to be part of this team. They will help editing your thread along the way and even contributing to it if you want to collaborate. Collaboration is encouraged!
  • All featured posts are submitted by PM to one of the mods. We then will forward that to the team who can make final edits/ touch ups before you submit. I must emphasize that this step is just here to make life easier for our posters who want to submit. We ultimately want to get out some bigger articles and share the work load to make life easier for all involved.
  • The topic can be on anything basketball related, not just Suns basketball

Have a topic you're interested in writing on, send a PM to me or one of the other mods and we'll get rolling with it.

Stay tuned!

Remember, if you have a topic to write about, follow the rules above and lets hear it...we all love to read well thought out posts, and we will feature these threads on the forum. We have 1 or 2 coming, but make sure to PM me or batsmasher if you'd like to write about something. We'd love to see it!

I think we have another good one coming soon. I encourage others to do the same so we can keep this forum somewhat positive during this tough season.

It has been mostly positive, despite where we are at, but any contributions are appreciated.

There's a lot of long quality posts I’ve read which I feel sometimes don't get the recognition it deserves just because it's long and people can't be bothered to read. These posts are so long they could be their own Featured Post. If posters are writing a reply that starts getting real long, they should consider taking some time to do a bit more research and turn it into a Featured Post.

For example, GMAT's posts are quality and sometimes it just get glossed over because of its length and possibly because replying to it may begin to get off-topic in that particular thread. Having a post become a featured post in its own thread allows other posters to discuss that topic in more detail. I thought the BK feature by batsmasher was focused and concise and allowed posters to drill down to bottom of that topic without having other ongoing discussions take the focus away like it would had the post been in a trade thread for example.

Yes, I think so too, and those that veer off topic I would like to move to history thread. I think many enjoy reading the long informative, well researched posts though.
