Braves get pretty good turnouts all things considered. Turner Field is a bitch to get to and decent tickets aren't exactly cheap. And the thing with Atlanta, so much of the population isn't even from Georgia. But I bet the Braves are one of the best when it comes to tv ratings.

But regardless, I was talking about how the Mets suck at baseball.

Decent turnout this year so far and it should only increase if the Braves can stay healthy. Not only are the ticket prices high they even raised the parking prices. The location of the stadium is horrible and dangerous compared to any other MLB stadium I have been to. It's easy for Met fans to talk or anyone who actually has a rail system to get to and from the games.

I can rant about the location of Turner Field for hours but I will stop.

2001: Mets ranked 15th (Atlanta 12th)
2002: Mets ranked 7th (Atlanta 13th)

As you can see Atlanta is rather consistent and the Mets must win for the fans to come out. Also if you take into consideration population and the rail system it's not even worth debating why the Mets would have more fans. Putting the poor location of Turner Field to the side, the amount of transplants Atlanta has is outrageous.

Ummn.. the Braves have been winning for the last 15 years and they still draw middle of the road crowds. Imagine if they started losing?

When the Mets win, they fill up their stadium and rank Top 5 in attendance. When they lose, they are a middle of the pack team attendance wise.

When the Braves win, they bring middle of the pack crowds. When they lose, I doubt they'd be in the Top 20.

Are you able to think at all? I've tried to explain to you the attendance issues with the Atlanta Braves but you don't see to comprehend.

New York has twice as many people as Georgia; so I would assume that helps filling up a 50 thousand seat stadium. You should ask yourself why the Mets don't sale out games consistently like Boston, St. Louis, San Francisco and Chicago.

Location...Location...Location

Turner Field's location is horrible. The crime rate was off the charts around the stadium a few years ago so the city has had to turn things around (slow process). The closest rail system is over a mile away located around Underground Atlanta. The Marta buses get jammed up. The parking lot is absolutely horrible (this is why many leave before the game is over). There are only three places around Turner Field to eat at, one is a very small restaurant and the other is a combo place that is KFC/Taco Bell (Think bad area).

With all the people New York has the Mets have yet to rank within the top 10 of highest attendance total of all-time during one season. Atlanta has done it once during the Fulton County stadium days. You can see that I didn't mention Turner Field so if you would like to understand why refer to the reasons above (Times have changed).

as much as i dispise the braves it's a valid arguement.

in the mid 90's at their old ball park, when they started their streak of DIV they were always in the top 3 in attendence. they were in the top 3 at turner field until 2000. although with the transportation/crime issues, it's still kind of troubling to me that they are still in the 6-10 rank. but it's not like HMFFL is talking out of his a**, so i wont bother to argue.

the thing is though. you can't blame the fans for not wanting to see the NYM in the 90's. they were pretty bad. and if you don't have a good product on the field. people won't go. it's as simple as that. and it's fair. it doesn't mean you're any less of a fan, if you're willing to shell out you're $$ to see a awful team.

NYY attendence for example. from 89-96 NYY were on the bottom-half. (outside of one year when they were 5th). even when htey won the world series in '96 they were ranked 7th.

you have to remeber. in NY there are a lot of other things to do.
