Thanks for the reminder, I'll be starting this soon. Is it Amazon?

What would you guys compare Deadwood and Justified to for someone who hasn't seen either?

Any Shameless fans here?

Personally I thought Deadwood was better than Justified. Part of it was just the simple fact that it's an HBO show with better production and writing. Plus Al Swaerengens character put it over the top although Boyd from Justified is pretty great too. Where Justified does beat Deadwood is that Deadwood got canceled about two seasons too soon so just kind of ends and they weren't allowed to tell the wholes story like the makers of Justified were.

I've watched most of Shameless and it's enjoyable. I had watched a couple seasons of the original British version of the show years ago so at first it took me some time to adjust to how the portrayed the characters in the US version.
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming Wow! What a Ride!-H.S.T.

In terms of leaving you talking about it after you finished though there is no doubt it was effective.

I thought The OA was excellent. Granted I'm a sucker for Sci-Fi/Philosophical type storylines. Also a big fan of Brit Marling (Sound of My Voice, The East, I Origins are really good, and Another Earth to a lesser extent). About the ending, a few substantive posts elsewhere on the web tied together some of my thoughts about what happened.

I burned through Goliath this past weekend. I would say it was pretty good. Worth the watch if you like lawyer shows.

Interesting but that goes deeper than I am capable of recognizing when I watch a show

But then it has the sci-fi aspect to it and it kept me going through an otherwise boring episode. That, along with some great actors - especially Jeffrey Wright, Anthony Hopkins, Ed Harris, and Thandie Newton.

Idk if I'll continue, though.

I really don't like westerns and I loved it. It moves away from that relatively quickly so stick with it.

Spoiler:
I didn't make all of the connections in the post but what kept popping up in my mind was the FBI therapist's emphasis on the invisible self, needing time to heal, and others taking some of the burden of her pain. That indicated to me that we couldn't necessarily take OA at face value.

Also, for those who have watched it (or haven't), you should definitely check out Sharon Van Etten's music if you're not familiar with her (Rachel in the show). She's stellar.

I recently finished a great series called Bloodline and was looking for a new one to try out. The trailer for Sneaky Pete looks interesting. Gonna try it after the Badgers game.

Watched the first two episodes of Justified last night. It's good but there's just nothing like Deadwood.

Anyone else feel compelled to make a list of TV they want to watch at some point? I didn't do much watching over the past year or so and even some of the stuff I loved I didn't finish. Last couple days I've compiled a list of all the stuff I've missed that I've read was awesome, and the list is absurdly long.

Finished both season of Narcos, very good. Watching Six, enjoyable after 2 of the 8. Only watched the first Taboo, but will watch them all at some point. Couldn't get into The Young Pope but will give it another shot. Disappointed that Vikings wraps up the season tonight. Although I love that they are doing split seasons of 10 each instead of just one of 10. Can't wait for a new Curb Your Enthusiasm season, no date announced yet.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

It's ****** difficult man. There's so much being produced. And with the availability of content (i.e. streaming platforms releasing seasons at a time), it's easy to get sidetracked, especially if something isn't captivating you immediately.

Prime example, pun intended, is I went onto Amazon last night and had a serious dilemma deciding whether to start Man In The High Castle, The Expanse, or The Night Manager (Hugh Laurie  ). First world problems, hey?

But this thread is a great way of consolidating information and recommendations.

I watched the first episode of Black Mirror and Sneaky Pete to see which one i should dive into first.

Liked the Black Mirror first episode more, but was told by someone that each episode is an entity by itself, not a continuing story line?

BTW, If you are looking for something to watch, try Bloodline on Netflix. I recently finished and it's really good.

Just because I went through the list and organized it, I'll share this ridiculous monster. It's really just a list of everything on TV and how I'm gonna tackle it.

Weekly watches:
1 - The 100
2 - The Expanse
3 - Riverdale
4 - Legion
5 - Powerless

Current stuff I wanna catch up on
1 - New Girl
2 - Arrow
3 - Legends of Tomorrow
4 - The Flash
5 - Agents of Shield
6 - The Young Pope
7 - The Magicians
8 - Colony
9 - Humans
10 - The Path
11 - This is Us
12 - Teachers

Not running, still wanna watch soon
1 - The Good Place
2 - Archer
3 - You’re the Worst
4 - Halt and Catch Fire
5 - Brooklyn 99
6 - Sweet/Vicious
7 - The Exorcist
8 - Billions
9 - Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt
10 - Bloodline
11 - Black Mirror
12 - The OA
13 - Travelers
14 - The Fall
15 - 12 Monkeys
16 - Chef’s Table
17 - Atlanta
18 - Vice Principals
19 - OJ Made in America

LOL no where near caught up or maybe even started
1 - Hart of Dixie
2 - Scream Queens
3 - Bates Motel
4 - The Vampire Diaries
5 - Supernatural
6 - The Americans
7 - Outlander
8 - The Affair
9 - Broad City
10 - Vikings
11 - Crazy Ex Girlfriend
12 - Jane the Virgin
13 - Silicon Valley
14 - Veep
15 - Sense8
16 - Scandal
17 - Penny Dreadful
18 - Homeland
19 - Man Seeking Woman
20 - The Bridge

Caught up, waiting for new stuff:
1 - Game of Thrones
2 - The Originals

This isn't a ranking of quality and in some cases a list of what I'd like to watch most, in some cases I've already invested numerous seasons into watching and I just wanna finish it so I can move it to that last category.

Rented Sausage Party, since it originally came out when I was out of the country and forgot about it. Amazing.

I was FURIOUS at the ending. FURIOUS. Make whatever excuses you want. It was unfair, unreasonable and unjust and the last 6 min of the 9 hour season are enough for me to tell people to run away.
