What I realize is, you really need KCP to get going on those pull up jumpers and let him take the reins of the offense in a consistent manner. He's really not a strict spot up shooter, he likes to pull up and sometimes that works better with certain players since it gets them in better rhythm. I know when I play, I play much better pulling up after a dribble over being caught flat footed for a spot up at times. You get more control with the ball IMO and I think that's what I'm seeing with KCP.
Get him the ball and he'll give you the 38-40% shooting from downtown.

Hurting your knee causes you to take horrible shots and make terrible in-game decisions?
News flash--Reggie Jackson's brain is in his knee!

He's our best player by far, and by the way the only real chance we got to acquire a real star; develops him into one. We need to try that because we haven't more options right now. So get a not ball dependant PG (so yeah, that includes NO Ricky Rubio), get a Dellavedova, or Pat Beverley, a guy who could help KCP to push the ball, but let him to be the man on static offense, and see what happens.
It could be a fail for sure, but we have nothing to lose.

Re: Game 49: PIstons (21-27) vs. Pelicans (19-30) - 7:30 PM EST
didn't get to watch the game but i'm watching the comeback now and man it's fun to watch.
quick gifs:
i really like baynes' perimeter defense for a center, especially of his size. he really works to move his, he's in control on the closeout, using his body to prevent the player from turning the corner but staying straight up to avoid fouling. he has active hands and one is always up in case the player pulls up. it's pretty textbook and awesome to see.
this was my favourite defensive sequence from what i've seen from the comeback so far. the gif isn't long enough but KCP even did a great job before by working to deny the pass and the guard eventually receives it near halfcourt which wastes precious seconds - as we find out. in the gif everybody is locked and engaged, playing physical, helping and rotating, hands active, etc. even if hill caught the ball cleanly at the end he was shooting a heavily contested 3. my favourite part is probably SJ on his rotation/closeout at the end. he moved on the pass, covered ground quickly and most importantly was in control and in his defensive stance. with the clock running down driving wasn't really an option but the way SJ closed out would've prevented a drive even if it was an option. again, textbook.
i really liked the lineup. ish, KCP, SJ and baynes bring it all the time and harris "carries" the offense without giving up too much defensively because the other four guys are active and engaged. i'm not saying this lineup would do well against any team but it definitely worked last night and definitely was fun to watch.
PS. SJ played probably the best i've seen him. he was active all the time and it looks like the game is slowing down for him a bit because he's making decisions much quicker. watching him last night is why you shouldn't get down on young players too soon, it wasn't long ago he was in the d league and people saying we wasted a pick and should trade him.

After watching last nights game Id take anything for Reggie. SJ has looked good the last 5-10 games. His defense has been above avg. With Ish KCP and SJ in the lineup we look really good. Good thing SVG didn't put RJ back in the game like he did against Boston. Still think we would have won if he didn't do that.

Rewatched the game last night,
So damn encouraging SVG did not go back to RJ, hopefully this lights a fire underneath RJ to stop being so damn selfish and too realize he's not "our only hope" .
KCP was a absolute beast, i am curious to see if he can vindicate this performance with another one next game, that is going to be ulitimately a lot more impressive than his career high. Still not really happy with his defense, but at that point i am being picky
I don't know what happen to Leur, he seems to have regressed since being added to starting lineup. I get the defensive attraction but he seems to get in foul trouble a lot and ruins any momentum he tries to build.
Dre, still pisses me off defensively, but 3 games in a row he's really showed a ton of effort and really good offensive game. I mean the sh* he was doing on davis was eye opening and again looking more and more comfortable putting the ball on the floor. What dre needs to focus on is understanding the offense as he misses a ton of back door passes because he's focus'd on other things. We also missed a ton of lob opportunities to him that were there but just didn't see it
SJ, this is the player we need to show up for us to take the next step. He is all over the place and while the box score doesn't show it, he was tipping rebounds, blocking/altering shots, and kept Evans in check. What i really loved and at first was confused was his defensive stance against evans was wide open almost daring him to drive left and evans everytime came back right............like wtf has it taken us this long to figure it out. He recognized and executed a great defensive plan.

I'm not particularly concerned with Leuer. One, he's coming back from injury. He was great in the starting lineup prior to getting hurt. We all know it takes KCP a couple games to get back in his groove after injury, hopefully it's the same with Jon. Last night was rough shooting, but the month of January he actually still shot 54% fg, and 43% on 3s.
Two, I think the foul trouble can also be attributed to matchups / Drummond's defense too. I'm not too mad about him getting in foul trouble when he's matched up with Cousins. Not sure how often he guarded Davis last night, but we've played quite a few stretch centers since Leuer has returned from his injury.
With SJ I think the games finally slowing down for him, and as has been mentioned a lot lately, he's lost some weight and looks to be in much better shape than the start of the season. I think that's a big factor in why he's playing more and looking better lately (3min game aside)

Re: Game 49: PIstons (21-27) vs. Pelicans (19-30) - 7:30 PM EST
I think part of Leuer's struggles could also be the fact he's overmatched every night. Its much different going against 2nd string bigs than it is going against 1st string bigs. Especially since earlier on, sometimes he has to guard the other team's best big. He started out on Davis last night... I think we should've kept him in the role he was thriving in earlier on this season.
I never understand why people always want to add more and get guys out of their comfort zone whenever they're playing well. Its great having the change of pace one Ish comes in, I like him off the bench. Also really think we need Tobias' offense in the first unit. I think it would open things up for Morris, Jackson, and KCP more.

he's most certainly a KCP-esq player in that he does other things that continue to help the team

My biggest problem with leur is he's not good on the perimeter and it has a lot to do with his technique, he needs to use his length more due to his lateral deficiencies . I really like when SVG uses him at the end of games instead of baynes. The one thing leur brings that is severly underrated is his ability to get boards , even against centers. More times than not he seems to get key rebounds

i think its partly that and according to SVG his preparation for practices and games and finally listening to what coaches are telling him to do. Its his whole attitude . So damn encouraging especially when you look at what bookers doing

I still can't believe when I look at the standings we're just a half game out of the 8th seed because Charlotte has lost 6 in a row.

Meanwhile the Miami Heat have won 9 in a row and are just 3 games out. The Miami Heat.
Tom Gores' Securus faced a class action lawsuit in 2024. The company engaged in a "quid pro quo kickback scheme" with county jails in Michigan which banned in-person visits in order to maximize revenue from voice and video calls.

Been saying it for a while now but Stanimal needs minutes!
You got a guy willing to die if it gets him the win and you chain him to the bench while Reggie Jackson plays his stop motion, pound the rock hero bull?
No **** thank you!
Dre
Jon/Mook
SJ/Tobias
KCP
Ish
Ain't no one else allowed on the floor in the last minutes except maybe Bully
That line up will put butts in seats! Cause they'll win more than they lose

bet miami heat fans still b* about how spolestra is only a good coach cuz of bron. Heat play with fire and chip on their shoulder and have the right personnel for their system. Unfortunately i think they are the typical team that is hott to early and will fizzle out at the end of season. Whiteside is not a player you can count on
