I live a little over an hour from Charlotte and the Hornets are so bland and boring that fans are quickly losing interest. This trade is a big reason why. Oh and the trade of their first round pick for Belly Nelly.

Someone took that contract? For shorter deals, maybe even 2 expirings if Hawes doesn't take his option?

They must believe something about Plumlee the rest of the world doesn't see. Again, stuff like this is the reason why I think the Pacers would have no issue trading Monta if they wanted to.

Did the Hornets think it was Mason Plumlee?

If the Nets didn't immediately fire King after the franchise ruining trade he had made, there's no way Cho is getting the boot.

That trade kinda made sense at the time. It was a huge risk, huge reward move, unfortunately for them, it didn't pan out. Going into that season though, the Nets were looked at as a real contender.

Clearly it didn't work, but at the time it still made sense to a degree. This just makes no sense at all. The Bellinelli trade was a lot to give up as well.

I won't argue that the Nets were going for broke, but any competent GM would have protected some of those picks. Boston probably still would have bit.

IIRC Charlotte is capped out so they would have had difficulty improving through FA. They also don't want to move a pick for a bench player.

Plumlee ain't great, he's pretty mediocre, but he's probably more useful given he provides rebounding that Hawes wasn't. His attractiveness was availability without having to give up anything worthwhile.

Kind of a bleh trade overall nontheless

Good work for MIL getting off of a mistake contract. The dumbest way to waste space if you might be under is on a non-elite big.

He got a few nice lobs from Giannis in March and April is what happened.

Can't believe they got out of it, Hammond must be the happiest man in the NBA right now.

Reading the wiretap, I was just as surprised that Steve Novak was on an NBA roster.

Hibbert could be literally incapable of moving even an inch and I'd still happily take that for half a year than pay Plumlee $50 million.

The trade also opened a roster spot so the Hornets could sign Mike Tobey. http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/244780/Hornets-To-Sign-Mike-Tobey-To-10-Day-Contract

I don't hate this for Charlotte. Plumlee is a horrible deal mainly because he wasn't going to get minute in MKE. He's much closer to the center the Hornets need than Hibbert was. Clifford is a good coach, and it shouldn't take a tremendous job to get Miles back to being a productive player in any case.
