Plumlee's contract was certainly not "market value." Better players got like 49 million less dollars.

2 years ago Hibbert was the 3rd best rim protector in the league. Maybe he will be the new savior for Kidd's defensive scheme??

That's a silly way to look at it. Market value is what it would've cost to have him on our team. Clearly Charlotte would've paid 4/50 if we didn't.
That's not excusing the contract. Obviously just because something is "market value" doesn't make it a reasonable contract.

After the Pacers lost that series to the Cavs, Hibbert gave up ball to be the next John 'Bones' Jones. Consider him our Kendrick Perkins aka 'the enforcer'!

Then they should have let charlotte offer that.

Charlotte "clearly' would've paid 50 million dollars for Miles Plumlee? Nah.

When I read this earlier in the thread I was laughing to myself "Was in air to Denver", I interpreted this as:
"Naked in Denver hotel room, Manchester match just went into penalty kicks! This is just too intense right now!"

Call me crazy but I'm shocked people want to get rid of Monroe. I guess if you think he's going to opt out and get paid more elsewhere. I don't see a reason he can't stick around on a deal similar to what he makes now. He's a good player to have. I think we're still caught up on the fact that we gave him a max deal, even though we all knew the cap was going to skyrocket.

He didn't have a prayer of building upon some of the success he had from last year. It makes me think our front office and coaching staff wasn't on the same page. The obvious scenario is that Kidd was flipping off the front office by sitting Plumlee. With skyrocketing salaries, finding value via FA is going to become harder and harder. Stripping the roster to the core falls under the category of be careful what you wish for. I spose we could trade Brogdon before he hits 25 next year and impose a roster wide 5 million dollar fine for having a birthday.
Plumlee was a starter to start the season and he was a HUGE liability. His one good trait of catching passes suddenly vanished between seasons. He had plenty of opportunities where it looked like we were straight up trying to feed him and get him going but his hands turned to bricks.

You have to keep in mind the cap took a huge hike this year and will continue to increase for the duration of Plumlee's contract. These contracts aren't as bad as they look. Detroit signed Boban Marjanovic for 3 years / $21 million based on garbage time minutes last season and he can't even play in the NBA. At least Plumlee has multiple years proving that he's an NBA-worthy backup center. Four Miles Plumlees (4/$50m) cost less than Noah (4/$73m), Mozgov (4/$64m), and Biyombo (4/$72m). All five of the centers I mentioned signed contracts this offseason. So maybe the Bucks overpaid for Plumlee, but that's what a lot of teams did this offseason and I don't expect these prices to stop in the coming years as the cap continues to rise.
I'm not saying I don't like this trade because I do. Just don't be surprised if the Bucks end up "overpaying" for another backup center.

I'm not surprised at anything the Bucks do. Overpaying for a bad player is never smart, regardless of what other dumb teams are willing to spend.

Giving Miles freaking Plumlee $50 million is and forever will be **** terrible. Stop trying to rationalise it ffs. It's even worse when literally no other team could've offered him that money at the time. Hammond played himself.

Those top PG's will be way out of our league but Jrue Holiday would be intriguing.

Making it even worse was that the Bucks had Plumlee for a year & a half at that point and the vast majority of that time the head coach deemed him not good enough to get in the game.

"If your friends jumped off a bridge something something".
There's people trying to justify the contract after we traded him for the corpse of HIbbert and a man bun after he lost his starting job to 3 different players in 30 games.

My goodness, you could offer a 1st with Plumlee and this trade still wouldn't be accepted in 2K

I know, I wonder how the whole thing played out
The Hornets were so dumb not to even ask for a pick?
Or maybe they did ask, and Hammond with the poker face said no and started walking towards the door?

Hammond traded Jennings for Knight and Middleton
then Knight for MCW, Plumlee, Ennis
then MCW for Snell
then Ennis for Beasley
then Plumlee for Hibbert and Hawes
so Jennings -> Middleton, Beasley, Snell, Hibbert, Hawes

then Knight for MCW, Plumlee, Ennis
then MCW for Snell
then Ennis for Beasley
then Plumlee for Hibbert and Hawes
so Jennings -> Middleton, Beasley, Snell, Hibbert, Hawes
