This bizarre winning streak might be what sets up apart from a true star building block (Fultz, Jackson, Smith) and nets us a random MLE type talent
That's incorrect. If you're a team like GSW you don't need a star, you only need a good role player. The draft isn't just about adding stars. How many stars are on the 2nd seed Celtics? 1 or 2? You should be happy that you get an above average player on draft night. All you need is some great defense and offense to win a championship and a little luck.
Are we a team like GSW? That was clearly not the point of his post.
On a team like ours with nobody even threatening to be an all-star much less superstar, more roleplayers shouldn't be your focus.
We're overloaded with roleplayers.

"The NBA today is not about adding nice role players on draft night". Clearly it was.
You think GSW fans expect to draft a future star with their pick? Drafting a future star isn't a need to compete for a championship it's only a want. You only need to come out of the draft better than you were before the draft. The problem that I have with his post is the idea that all teams don't draft to at least get a role-player. Also, aren't the Spurs overloaded with roleplayers? No one currently playing at a star level was drafted by that team.
