We should take a look at Joe Ingles in free agency if we don't get a decent backup at SF through draft or can't sign a younger guy. He's a solid defender when he has a rim protector behind him (Gobert), and he's shooting the lights out this year. Bonus points for being funny + Australian.

Melo just put up an air ball in OT in the Atlanta game. He was on an ISO play. An Atlanta fan is yelling
"That is why no one wants you, 1 on 5 Melo that is why no one want you!" Too funny
You want it to be one way....but it's the other way. (Marlo)

I think this whole free fall saga that Cleveland is in is all BS. Come playoff time, ESPN and others will be running with a story about how focused the Cavs are and they'll be calling Lebron the sheriff. It's all BS.....ALL OF IT. This is all a tactic to ramp up ratings. Of course, Melo will probably be traded to the Cavs for basically nothing. Cavs will keep Love, we'll see a 5v5 super team finals. Whoever is up 3-1 in the series will end up with a player getting suspended again.

Even if CLE gets Melo, he's such a misfit there. Would they bring Love or Melo off the bench? Otherwise, I can't see how it would work for them.

I wish we could grab Wilson Chandler. He's seeking a trade out of Denver, and is having a career year. Good scorer, good rebounder, good defender, good size. Would fit in perfectly at SF for us.

Pretty easy to argue he's best used as a smallish-ball four. In a free agent year and closing in on 30, it's a pretty odd thing to do if the Sixers were to acquire him.

He's pissed that he's coming off in the bench in Denver. We can't offer him a starting spot at either F position so he probably wouldn't be any happier here.

Also, I'm not the biggest fan of him as a defender. He was much better at guarding wings in his early 20s. He's a little heavier and slower these days and probably best being a full-time PF.

Denver considering moving Mudiay and picks to get a player.

Mudiay and picks for Okeefor

Why Sixers do it: tough to take the hit of losing Okeefor but, they take the drop in talent to address a need.

Why Denver does it: They get Jahlil freaking Okeefor.

They have Jokic and Nurkic. They have no need for Okafor. And to be honest I don't want Mudiay.

Neither team would want the player coming to them in that deal.

Every team in the NBA could use Okeefor. That's like saying the Warriors don't need Jordan because they have Klay Thompson.

Yes, I just compared Jordan to Big Jahlil. Awwww yeaaaaaah.

Warriors just signed Briante Weber to a 10 day contract.

Finally, someone gives this dude a hard look.

I think the Sixers liked what Chasson brings from a character standpoint. Extremely intelligent and a great guy. Weber is a bit wild and has had some off-court issues here and there.

In terms of who's a better basketball player, Briante is significantly better than Chasson.

If the guy could just be a league average shooter, he'd be a star. Does everything else you want. Dominant defender.

There's still a chance I guess, as he's still only 22.

I think we would be fine with Okafor being the backup 5 for the remainder of his rookie deal. You run him as one of the 2nd team scorers, with TJ, TLC, Saric/Cov and one of our 2017 picks (especially if it is someone like Issac). I would rather do that than pay Noel $90 million.

The reality is, however, this is a team that wants to go up and down the floor, and that is not Jah's strength. He needs to go to a team where they like operating in the half-court...somebody on another forum mentioned, Memphis, and he would be a good fit there - especially if they do not re-sign Z-Bo. Atlanta would be another option.

There are certainly teams where he could go and be a bench scorer - kind of like the role that Speights has carved out. And - shock of shocks - something could click and he gets it. Both Z-Bo and Al Jefferson had reasonably forgettable first two seasons in the league before it clicked in season 3. Jah has a great toolbox - he just needs to learn some of the NBA tricks of the trade.

I would be fine with trading both Jah and Noel...but I don't think it would be the end of civilization if they decided to move Noel at the deadline and keep Jah as the backup center.

At this point, I don't think he'll be a star. I'm fully confident in him being a 12-14 ppg player by the time he he gets to his mid-20s, though. Which, in conjunction with his elite defense, would make him the perfect championship caliber starting 2-guard for us.

Yogi Ferrell going off on this trash-tier Portland defensive backcourt.

Return to Philadelphia 76ers
