What you think is the problem with TJ?

Post#1 » by Damkac » Fri Feb 3, 2017 9:00 am

I had high hopes in Warren and was so happy when he started the season nicely. But after the mysterious "head injury" he is invisible most of the time.
Let's guess what is wrong with him.
Is it physical injury? We still don't know what kind of injury he had. Maybe he is still not fully healed?
Maybe it's his mentality? Maybe he is too quiet and passive?
Or maybe it's fault of the rest of the team? Maybe his selfish teammates and bad coaching don't let him shine? Maybe he is too quiet to demand the ball from Bledsoe and Booker (so partly it's a mentality thing too)?
Or maybe he is just an average player with too many holes to be a part of Suns future core?

No clue. How did he get injured last year, I don't recall? During practice right?

Wish he could just go back to his 1st 11 games of the season. It's mind-boggling how his game has just went straight to the gutter since. I'm not sure I've seen a player turn this bad after such a hot start.

Pre-injury he was clearly our best player 20 points, 5 rebounds, 2 steals @ 110 O-Rating.

Since then he's scored single figures in 13 of 23 games.

Has to be some health / mental effect, hope he comes back strong next season, still think he can be a borderline All-Star, but needs to be at full confidence and go mode level. We can also offer him a 4 year extension so we could get him on the cheap like Curry (not saying he's Curry).

If it's a "mental injury", is that "Mentality" or "Injury"?

As I cannot tell, I have abstained from voting.

Curse of the 2014 draft? For a draft that was hailed as a generational draft it's really been star crossed with injuries, inconsistent play, and just overall weirdness. We're 2 1/2 years into these guys careers and it's hard to really get a read on how this draft will be viewed 5 years from now.
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming Wow! What a Ride!-H.S.T.

It's fit and the amount of shots he needs to be relevant. Needs to be the focal point, ball in his hands and have a green light, even if it means it's only when Book and Bled are on the bench (Jamal Crawford type ****). Playing along side Book and Bled, he won't have that kind of opportunity. He isn't gonna make an impact on the game because of his defense. He also seems to have stopped cutting to the basket when Book and Bled have the ball??? Is it scheme related??

Did I hear correctly that he had a head injury? McDermott got concussion early in the season and it's taken him ages to find his feet on the court again - apparently even a month later he couldn't find his way home because of the effects of the injury. If TJ had concussion or something similar, I wouldn't underestimate the effects it's had on his play. He's clearly not playing as well as before whatever it is that sidelined him.

Thinking about it , yeah, probably that's one of the circumstances that make him invisible sometimes. But he is worse on defense and rebounding too, so I believe that there are other stuff making him too passive.

It is just pure speculation, but I seriously think that he is taking some medication. He was at the hospital for a few days and without playing around a month...and sometimes he seems a little bit like a zombie on the court. Probably a medical treatment is affecting him...IDK.

It wasn't a concussion. It's the biggest mystery of the season.
It just so happens T.J. Warren will practice with the team Saturday for the first time since he left a Nov. 18 game at Indiana with what was later determined to be a head injury that kept him in the hospital for several days.

Warren has been working out individually on the court in recent days after not being able to exercise initially for the unspecified head injury. Warren needed a practice with contact before the Suns would consider clearing him for game action.

Warren was playing like a Most Improved Player candidate in his first 11 games this season. He was averaging a team-high 20.0 points per game before a two-for-11 shooting game at Denver and leaving the floor after nine minutes of play at Indiana. He also was among the league leaders in steals at 2.1 per game entering the Indiana game.

Maybe and its likely.

He just isnt as aggressive defensively... He looks like he is back to his rookie year looking lost and reacting wrong to plays.

Offensively he is rushing shots and missing his usual craftiness.

He isnt the same player since the injury.

Maybe TJ's moonlighting as a college football player proved to be a bit too much...

We'll probably know more about his injury and how it affected his play after the season. Maybe even the media were told not to ask questions about it.

Whatever the injury was or is, it somehow still effects him mentally. I think he will get back to form at some point. It's funny that some of the forum thinks Len sucks, some think Warren isn't very good, and then there is a rumor that these two are who would go to the Kings. How convenient.

The problem of Warren is bledsoe. Bledsoe is a bad passer

This makes no sense. He's not a bad passer but even if he was, how do you explain Warren playing so much better the first 6 weeks of the season with that very same Bledsoe passing to him?
