Gary Harris

Post#1 » by skywalker33 » Sun Feb 5, 2017 12:48 am

Love me some GHarris, but as a SG, how do we get him to increase his scoring ? He's shoots about a 48% clip on 2pt and 40% on 3pt, so why is he only scoring 13ppg ?? He's one of the best two-way 3-D guards in the league but as a SG I feel he needs to be scoring 16-20ppg, he's fully capable of doing it. How do we get him over his unselfishness ??

Getting him more than 27 mpg would be a start. But I am more worried about hiss defense which seems to have regressed

Needs to take more shots - some players just never get that - it's a tough balance between shooting and being a "team guy"
As for his defense, maybe he's following the example of the two primary leaders: Gallinari & Nelson

Think 13 ppg is fine for him. He's perfect for the offball scorer role he's in now. Start giving him ISOs and asking him to create would likely tank his efficiency. He might add a 1 on 1 game eventually but he's playing within himself perfectly right now.

I like what Harris brings offensively but I still question if he is following the Afflalo path of having a massive drop off in defense with increased offensive load.

We are consistently getting torched by guards. Hell Manu is 40 years old and having a bad season and is torching Harris.

You may be right I was guessing maybe he has been getting personal tutoring by our defensive specialist coach you know the one that has installed the amazing 29th ranked defense in which every player has regressed defensively.

I just glanced at some defensive statistics. I don't think they tell the whole story but there's no question that this seems to be his worst year playing defense. He started out as a "defensive specialist" or something like that.

I'll agree with you that the No-D Enver Nuggets' defensive specialist coach has installed a system/approach guaranteed to make Nuggets' guards look bad and bigs look worse. But that's OK, because they just don't seem to care about defense anyway.

Nice follow up with a 25pt output, really like seeing that. Now need to do it against a superior competition.
