Assuming Patton nominates then I think he is the best center prospect but I do think Bam is under rated.

I have to say that I am not impressed by any of the prospects down in our range. It's early, but nobody pops out as "we can get this guy at 25!".

There are a lot of guys that I like at 25-30 but every year we also see plenty of players that I have rated much higher drop to the end of the 1st and early 2nd. Last year was about as crowded as I can remember with Brogdon, Luwawu, Skal, Deyonta Davis, Kormaz, Dejounte Murray and Patrick McCaw all dropping.

This year for me the players that I really like in the 25-30 range are these guys.

Dillon Brooks
Jawun Evans
Luke Kennard
Josh Hart
Alonzo Trier
Thomas Bryant

Have you watched Patton? I really really like him. I hope he declares.

I haven't gotten into this draft class very much to be honest. I've read about Patton, but I haven't watched him play at all.

DX just made a video on De'Anthony Melton. Seems interesting from a statistical standpoint...maybe?

Another guy to put in that 25-30 is VJ Beacham. His numbers don't jump out at you by any means but he has great for the wing position and can really shoot the 3 ball. When you watch him play there is a smoothness to his game that jumps out at you which can be a good and bad thing because he doesn't get going to fast and out of control but you also feel a lack of intensity at times.

Swanigan should be seriously considered if he is on the board at the end of the first round. Trade Favors, due to cost concerns, and draft Swanigan who can play inside and out.

New DX mock draft.
http://www.draftexpress.com/nba-mock-draft/2017/

Justin Patton is mocked in the lottery of one of the better drafts lately. WOW!

Other notable things -
1. Adebayo keeps falling. What am I missing, guys? I know he doesn't have amazing length, but damn... really? No. 20?
2. Jazz get Donovan Mitchell(SG) at 24, Justin Jackson(SF) at 30, Caleb Swanigan at (44) and L.J. Peak at 54.
3. OG falls to 23. Hm...
4. All 5 PGs are in the top 10.

Flipped on the Kentucky game and Bilas voiced his concerns with Bam. Paraphrasing here..."He has great physical tools but only averages 6 rebounds a game. Leaves you wanting more. Seems to be content going through the motions. Should be more dominant than he is."

I've not watched Bam so I don't have anything to say about him other than he needs a jersey one or two sizes bigger.

This type of thing from Bilas is also rampant among gm's and the reason why Drummond dropped so much and Deandre Jordan slipped to the 2nd rd. Neither player rebounded all that well in college yet in the nba they are as good as gets. I think you will see something similar when it comes to Bam. Hopefully gm's continue to drop the ball with some of these bigs and we get lucky.

Well I predicted this early. And he's actually been much better than I thought he'd be:
stitches wrote:Bam Adebayo - Huge! Physical specimen. Second half - WOW! He's a freak(physically). Think Dwight Howard, think Drummond. I can not see him going out of the top 10 purely based on physical tools - 6'10'', 260 ALL MUSCLE! Freak athlete for his size(39.5'' max vertical at Kentucky pro-day). PFFFFF! Who would be the next GM letting him slip because he probably won't have the insane stats to back up a top 10 pick? I'd definitely pick him top 10 on tools and potential alone. Maybe even top 5? Need to watch him more. WOW! He moves so well on the perimeter! Doesn't seem to have much of a shot-blocking instinct. This might be a problem.

The rebounding numbers is really the only thing you can knock him for and he's still getting 10 per 40 or 13 per 100 possessions:

What is your opinion of Harry Giles? I feel like there's a chance he falls on draft night...maybe into the second round. He's falling out of Duke's rotation. OG + Giles would be very interesting late in the first...we'd have to get a new medical staff though.

With one of our picks I would definitely take a shot on Giles even though he has looked horrible so far. To the point where he isn't worthy of minutes. Athletically he looks like a shell of his former self so hopefully he can gain back some of his previous athleticism.

The problem with Giles is... he doesn't seem like the player he was in HS. His explosiveness and athleticism seem to have taken a hit. The question is do you expect them to return? I give him a bit of leeway because he hasn't really played much basketball last couple of years, but he definitely doesn't look like the no. 1 player he was hyped to be. I'd still take him with one of our picks, though...

Isaac is showing out tonight against NC State. He has 17 points at the half and has been all over the floor.

Meanwhile, Smith Jr. has 0 points and has looked terrible.

I think Isaac has a legit shot at going top 5. He's soooo skinny, but he plays the right way, has a good attitude and can do just about everything.

Mikal Bridges and De'anthony Melton are two players I hope nominate for the draft, given they will likely fall to where we are selecting. High upside defensively and show potential from three.

I've decided that we have to draft Grayson Allen because we need someone bat **** crazy to pump up the team.

There's plenty of other crazies out there that we could draft other than Allen...

I love Frank. Would give up Exum and both our picks to get him. Would give up Exum and Lyles and one of the picks to get him.

And BTW, his offense is probably the weaker part of his game! His a beast on D and when he locks down, watch out. I think he will be one of the better defensive PGs in the league the moment he's drafted.
