Build a Team FINAL SCORES!!!

Post#1 » by Miklo » Mon Jan 17, 2011 11:47 pm

Now that everyone has probably given up on this happening I am excited to announce that all judges submitted their results and I have compiled the scores!

I did all the averages in an Excel spreadsheet so I'm posting a link to view an image of the spreadsheet. It's too big to display here without cutting most of it off so in this post I'll just give the rankings, and then you can go look at your team's individual scores at this link:

http://i54.tinypic.com/21jd4za.jpg

OKAY, without further ado...

Overall Winners
5th Place - TASTIC's Pacers
4th Place - nashrambler13's Warriors
3rd Place - DirtyDez's Wizards
2nd Place - whambamslam's Nets
1st Place - Miklo's Pistons

Most likely to win it all this year (best contending scores)
5th Place - febah07's Jazz
4th Place - TASTIC's Pacers
3rd Place - Calvin Klein's Knicks
2nd Place - whambamslam's Nets, DirtyDez's Wizards (2-way tie)
1st Place - Miklo's Pistons

Future dynasties (best building for future scores)
5th Place - lilfishi22's Thunder
4th Place - nashrambler13's Warriors, Moochiefried's Grizzlies (2-way tie)
3rd Place - LV-Suns' Mavericks
2nd Place - Da_Reel_Kboy's Rockets
1st Place - JasonDaPsycho's Spurs

Most financially responsible (best cap management scores)
5th Place - nashrambler13's Warriors
4th Place - febah07's Jazz, LV-Suns' Mavericks (2-way tie)
3rd Place - TASTIC's Pacers
2nd Place - Moochiefried's Grizzlies
1st Place - JasonDaPsycho's Spurs

Best coaching staffs (best coaching scores)
5th Place - lilfishi22's Thunder (Tom Thibodeau), sd1306's Blazers (Larry Brown)(2-way tie)
4th Place - whambamslam's Nets (Coach K)
3rd Place - nashrambler13's Warriors (Scott Brooks)
2nd Place - Miklo's Pistons (Gregg Popovich)
1st Place - febah07's Jazz (Jerry Sloan)

Best locker rooms (best chemistry/roster management scores)
5th Place - Moochiefried's Grizzlies
4th Place - nashrambler13's Warriors, TASTIC's Pacers, Desertfox's Bucks (3-way tie)
3rd Place - Da_Reel_Kboy's Rockets
2nd Place - whambamslam's Nets
1st Place - Calvin Klein's Knicks

Interesting figures

-While ranking just 4th overall, nashrambler13's Warriors were the only team to place in 4 of the 5 categories. While ranking 1st overall, Miklo only placed in 2 categories.

-However, nashrambler13's Warriors are the only top-5 overall team to not place in contending. Shows that there were other successful ways to build a team for this game.

-Calvin Klein's Knicks and febah07's Jazz both placed in contending but not overall. This is also proof that the scoring allowed perks to teams for building in every category.

-The team to get Phil Jackson as it's head coach, the Mavs, didn't even place in coaching. This suggests that the judges did a good job of judging coaching by fit with the team (or that we all hate the Lakers and forget about the Bulls  )

-Special props go out to febah07's Jazz and TASTIC's Pacers, for building teams that placed in both contending and cap management. Even though overall, TASTIC placed 5th and febah07 didn't place, the fact that they scored well in these 2 categories means they have less to lose than a team like Miklo's Pistons or whambamslam's Nets, who, if they underperform, will be well overpaying their rosters.

A huge thank you everyone who built a team, helped out in various ways, and were patient with me while I took a long time for some parts of this!!!

Also the Hawks, Lakers, 76ers, Bulls, Nuggets and Kings had 1 or 2 judges score them so they appear on the spreadsheet, but since they never submitted final posts, not all judges scored them and their scores weren't averaged in or ranked.

Thanks Miklo. Must have been painful to go through all the spreadsheets.

First in cap management and building for the future.
Made my day. I had high expectations for my team's future, but I didn't expect to win the cap management part as well.

I love this that team was not a "Phil Jackson team"
That team was centered around Blake Griffin and Al Horford. Along with Jeff Green, Demar Derozan and Jameer Nelson. Only player older than 24 in the starting line up is Nelson. No Dominate wing player on this team and very young. I think perhaps say Nate McMillan or Scott Brooks would have been better fits.

I squeaked into second by .1 point. I figured Miklo's team would win because Kobe and some really good players around him.

So Miklo posts the results, and ends up winning. How convenient! ;)

Just joking mate, you put together a great team and deserved to be up there.

This was a FUN game. Next time, we really should do it like Fantasy and let the regular posters have priority.

I'm satisfied with my team. We did good on contending and chemistry which is what I was looking for. At the time there were some players that seemed to be done like Jefferson and Brand, but they showed they can still play :D

EDIT: We should actually start a new one as soon as possible :D

WHAT DO YOU MEAN I DON'T CONTEND??

Also, did the judges even look at my assistant coach? Mike D'Antoni?? But I'm cool with where i ended up. Pretty fair.

Thanks to everyone who actually stayed! This was fun. I don't know if I'd do it again.. maybe in the offseason i suppose.

Man I'm disappointed not to be placed well for Cap Management. My payroll was only arounf 54 million, but half of that figure was expiring contracts.

Any judges, just to clarify, are you saying that Rick Adelman is the second worst coach in the league? :D

:dontknow:

The way I judged cap management is how well the money is spent rather than how less money is spent or how much of it is expiring. You could have a high payroll and with not much financial flexibility but if the core is strong enough to contend now then it doesn't really matter since you'll have a dynasty.

I didn't know this was done before, so a great example.
When asked how Fascism starts, Bertrand Russell once said:
"First, they fascinate the fools. Then, they muzzle the intelligent."
