Exactly and especially Chris needs some additional time considering how much he has lost during his ACL recovery process both in college and in the NBA. It's not rare that young players make the leap during their third or fourth season. Jimmy Butler barely played in his first season despite being a college senior compared to Chris who joined the Nets immediately after a lost freshman season. In his second year, he became a regular rotation player (26 MPG). In year 3, he started in all of his games. And then in year 4 after they failed to reach a rookie extension, he finally broke out and is now a top 20 player. It takes time.

I think the issue with Hunter is that he's pretty slow. His scoring may have been effective at the college level but NBA defenses rotate so quickly and swarm that the extra half-second or second NBA defenses shave off into rotating makes a huge difference.

McCullough has the athleticism to compete but he's always struggled with getting the offense down and adjusting to the speed in the NBA. Considering that he barely played in college, he's really jumping from HS to the NBA which is a quantum leap that only some historically gifted talents can make.

I'm sure if the Nets aren't seeing CMC make the progress that they expect, they'll drop him for someone who they think has a better chance to make an impact in the long term.

It's WAY to early to dump McCullough who still is on his rookie deal for two more seasons and racking up numbers in the D-League himself.
As soon as the deadline is over, there is no need for Foye or Scola's expiring contracts anymore and the Nets could waive them, give them the opportunity to join a playoff team and use their roster spots in order to give young guys like Hunter an opportunity. As Hunter is a shooting guard, the obvious way of creating space for him would be waiving Foye.

im just not high on mccullough. and i dont really care about his dleague stats. there is no size. he is playing the 4 and 5 in the games i watched and the biggest guy on the floor some times. he sturggled with the nets vs size and strength. not an issue in dleague.

maybe he can be an ok player, but im much higher on RJ hunter.

Yea He's going to be poached between now and the end of the month. A team will pick him up after the deadline.

I'm in **** it mode. He's doing well down there so might as well give him a look for the rest of the season. Somebody is going to do it, so might as well be us.

I'm a little wary of Hunter because he's had 5 good games in a row recently after shooting poorly for the better part of 2.5 years going back to college. But if he can show that he could be consistent for a couple of more games, then I hope the Nets take a chance on him.

Great player. I wish the C's had kept him over James Young....much better potential for RJ in the NBA.

I could see him as a very solid NBA player on both ends.

Seeing as they're both mainly 3 point shooters, its Harris. He's shooting 39% from 3. Hunter is shooting 31%. Hunter is taking a bunch of shots and getting a bunch of FT attempts in the D-league which is why he can easily score 25-30 points in the DLeague. There's no guarantee that he can do that at the NBA level, so he wouldn't do much up here except chuck threes. And if he's shooting 31% down there, there's no reason for believe he can out shoot Harris.

From watching the D-League games, Hunter seems like a player that needs the ball a lot to be successful. He also turns it over a lot too. Harris is pretty good running off ball and with the catch and shoot, and would fit better as a role player.

From everyone on the D-League, I think Trahson Burrell has the best chance to sticking in the NBA from the D-League team.

Marks basically just did this.... Traded CMC as a throw in to washington and instantly cut thornton. frees the spot to sign RJ Hunter who I guess they just pulled from the D-League.

Disagree. There's a reason he's not on the nets right now.

He's shooting 31% from 3 in the DLeague and averaging 8 3PA per game. He's shooting 38% on 15 FGA per game. He gets to the line almost 6 times a game and only shoots 76%. Even for the DLeague, he's a poor mans Kobe.
