Who will take his minutes (as minute as they were)? Will we see more Derrick Jones?

Only if Tucker gets traded. I think this minimizes a possible Tucker deal unless it's one you can't pass up.

God i hope not and for **** sake i hope the suns dont think like this. If an asset can be had for tucker you take it and worry about filling those minutes later. Give jones the run or sign some scrub off the street.

Why? Still to go for the 8th spot? Can't Dudley just play minutes instead?

Yeah. Us not trading Tucker because somebody else is injured makes little sense. We have a 3/4 in Dudley anyways who is sitting there, and even if we didn't, since we aren't in playoff contention who really cares if we have to sign somebody off the street to play those minutes or play guys out of position who would otherwise be sitting?

We should trade Tucker for the best offer at the deadline. Bender's injury shouldn't change that at all.

Interesting take. I wonder if he has a chipped bone floating in there that is causing trouble. That might explain the try it out for a game move we saw. PHX is basically saying lets fix you now, we can get you some time in Summer league and get you ready for next year. It also allows him to be away from the team and in the weight room.

We are beyond might be cursed and right into most definitely. I can't believe Bender needs surgery on his ankle. Didn't Len have similar issues with his foot? :noway:

Doubt it, aside from athleticism, I'm not sure he has any NBA level skill.

Well, we know he is long, athletic, can run and jump. If he can defend on top of all of that, then he has an nba skillset. If he can catch, its a plus, with good passers around him. Learning to shoot and basketball iq are his final frontier after that.

Sure, he absolutely could. Does Watson give you any reasons to think he'd be inclined to do that though? Tucker is his security blanket out there and Dudley's defense is worse than Bender's. I just don't see it happening now. I hope I'm wrong.

P.s. I know you read a lot of posts but when I have I once suggested this season we were trying to make the playoffs?

Hopefully this injury helps Bender by sitting back and watching the game. I'm looking on the positive side.

The positive side is that he is a player who has not been a big part of the regular rotation getting injured in a season where wins do not really matter.

Get it fixed, whatever it is. Let the 18 or 19 year old 7 footer develop.

I didn't say you had explicitly stated we were trying to make the playoffs, but it only makes sense that PJ plays so many more minutes than Dudley for trade value and potentially to try to make a push for the playoffs because we need the defense.

Obviously now that Bender is out we probably have more minutes for everyone but unless this team sees PJ as part of the future and want to re-sign him this offseason then I don't see why we keep him down the stretch and especially play him a ton. It's meaningless after the trade deadline unless his playing with Chriss significantly impacts Chriss' pace of development in some way.

Nothing happend. He needs surgery, his body is still Young and he will recover. He has now Time to get used to the System ( if there is a System) and get his body ready for the NBA

The Suns were not going to play Bender anyway, so I do not see what the fuss is about. Now the Golden child PJ Tucker can continue his 40 minutes a game without the coaching staff being questioned why our #4 pick was always glued to the bench, despite all the losing.

This is a bummer as Bender is probably the player I most wanted to see more of this season and was hoping he'd have an increased role as the season came closer to ending.
