I'm pretty confident it's nothing. Unless we are getting back other players (Chandler, one of the many SGs) we aren't (or at least shouldn't be) targeting another C.

I'm kinda torn on whether we should be using the 2017 pick or not as a general principle.

So BOS allegedly offered us both BRK picks but now they aren't willing to do that for a Jimmy Butler type star. Hmmm....

We better not move our 2017 first. That would be incredibly short sighted.

As far as a trade for a PG, I really like Tim Frazier from NO. I'd be willing to do a Frazier + Ajinca for Lamb type deal if NO had interest. Solid backup PG and another serviceable big on a contract same length as Lamb, and NO gets a shooter.

EDIT: for grammatical errors

I understand wanting a pick, but I hope you aren't wanting our 2017 first. I'm not impressed enough to be willing to move it. May just be me though.

Sessions for Deron Williams works $ wise. Unfortunately they're both injured, not sure how long DWill is out for. DWill also has a NTC so not sure how realistic it is that he would sign off on that.

Semi-realistic vet PG options that are potentially obtainable from non-playoff teams without giving up a 1st: Knight, DWill, Devin Harris, MCW (does he count as a vet?), Jennings, Ty Lawson

From Smitty on the T&T board when I asked him what PG options we might be targeting:

Nothing really concrete. I know they like Tim Frazier quite a bit, but the Pelicans want to keep him in case Holiday leaves this summer.

Not sure what Charlotte is dangling, but they are looking for a short term solution, nothing major.

Doesn't seem like the 1st is likely on the table.

Kevin Pelton ESPN Insider likes Lou Williams from LA for the Hornets
Sweet Lou to Charlotte; Lakers get pick

Charlotte Hornets get: Guard Lou Williams

L.A. Lakers get: Guard Ramon Sessions, Charlotte's 2018 first-round pick (lottery protected)

View in the ESPN Trade Machine

This was perhaps my favorite trade I made as a GM of eight teams in the recent Dunc'd On mock trade deadline series. While a first-round pick is a lot to give up, Williams is an ideal fit in Charlotte. Even before backup point guard Sessions suffered a torn meniscus that will require surgery and sideline him 4-6 weeks, the Hornets were struggling to score with All-Star point guard Kemba Walker on the bench. Per NBA.com/Stats, their offensive rating dips by 8.1 points per 100 possessions without Walker.

Williams has no trouble scoring. His 27.1 points per 36 minutes this season rank 10th among qualified players, according to Basketball-Reference.com, and Williams scores efficiently too: His .601 true shooting percentage is outstanding. Williams is big enough to play alongside Walker in certain matchups and under contract for 2017-18 at the bargain rate of $7 million -- less than the non-taxpayer midlevel exception will pay next year.

I don't understand why everyone (not necessarily Hornets fans) is adamant about trading for Lou Will and us trading a first. Maybe I'm one of the few who would like to have some young players we are developing.

IDK about Lou Williams. I guess it's an OK fit, but I don't like the idea of trading a pick for him. He just doesn't move the needle enough for me.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

When you have the draft record we have, people like myself question how valuable a draft pick is to us.

Look I agree we miss on drafting but I also think we need to improve in player development. More investment in this area is needed. But just because our track record says one thing doesn't mean you off a pick that could be a lottery pick with how we are playing for Lou Williams. A couple of seconds? Sure. But not a first. I personally trade my firsts for better players or if I'd need to offload an ungodly terrible contract. That's just my two cents.

Two 2nds tops for Knight or Lou Williams. It would probably take Jrue Holiday to get me to give up even our 2018 1st with protection.

I've been saying it for years. This whole team should be on the trading block. No one on our team is worth building around. I'd trade Kemba now while his value is somewhat high.

Blow it up!

Trade 1

Cha in: Ricky Rubio, Shabazz Muhammed, Minn 2017 first round pick (unprotected)
Cha out: Kemba Walker, Jeremy Lamb
Why? T-Wolves get a PG that can really play with the rest of their team & a long term backup to Wiggens. Hornets get a guy who can keep running the team the right way during a short rebuild & mentor any PG drafted. Muhammed is an UFA.

Trade 2

Cha in: Jeff Green, Mario Hezonja, Orl 2017 first round pick (top 5 protected)
Cha out: Nic Batum, Treveon Graham
Why? Orlando gets the roster balance they want at the cost of a guy who isn't working out there, a pick, & an expiring. Charlotte gets to see if a change of scenery helps Hezonja and another pick to rebuild.

http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=zrf4mxy

Summer 2017 roster

Released: Green, Sessions, Roberts
Free Agents: Muhammad

PG: Rubio
SG: Belinelli,
SF: MKG, Hezonja, Wood
PF: Marvin, Frank
C: Zeller, Plumlee

Draft picks 2-3 high first rounders depending on where Orlando ends up. Assuming that draft will include a PG & a Wing.

* and for the record I'm not advocating this, but I was wondering what a rebuild might look like. I was looking at what other teams want & guys on this team with trade value. Also considered Marv to Toronto (trade checker didn't like it & I didn't like what they had), Chicago (taking Rondo off their hands for a pick, but not really worth it IMHO), and Portland (not much worth taking back from them).
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

I'm all for trading Kemba while his value is high but that is not a "value is high" trade unless Minny wins the #1 overall pick
