Yes, cuz it has to be one extreme end of the spectrum or the other, right? Can't be somewhere in between.

I think we're being 'too' cautious which is giving us opportunity to showcase the other bigs just before the trade deadline and tanking is an additional side effect.

IDK he's missed the last 7 sixers games.

Cuz we're tanking, being cautious and showcasing Okafor... We're also not sure about the last three games before all star break...

That either makes them look like they don't know wtf they are doing or have another agenda on the mind. And if they wanna stealth tank, fine, I'm all for it. I'd rather that then them not knowing what they're doing.
LongLiveHinkie wrote:A lot of this anger could be solved if they just give a timeline. Give the fans something. What is gained from treating the health of their players like Area 51 projects? And they absolutely have a window when they think Ben Simmons and Embiid will be back. If you don't think they have an idea then you are untold levels of naive.
Tomorrow when addressing the media: "This is subject to change, but we're looking at either right before or right after the all-star break as a return for Joel Embiid and for Ben Simmons we're hoping for late February/early March for his return. But that is also subject to change based on his conditioning and how he responds to practices." Boom. Done. Clean and easy.
What harm is there in making a public announcement like that? Answer: absolutely none, and it would quell a lot of the impatience in the fans so people don't have to keep guessing anymore.

You are asking them to make up something though . There IS no timeline because they go through a process of benchmarking and load management. They can make guesses, and they are clearly leaking those guesses to the media, but just coming out and saying a date doesn't make sense. The announcement that you are asking for is completely unnecessary if they are leaking the same information to the media.
It's like with George RR Martin giving updates for when his next book comes out. For years he would say when he thought he was going to be done, but the truth of the matter was that he wasn't going to be done until he was satisfied with the result. He pissed a lot of people off for years for missing deadlines. So if he said that the book will be out in the spring, and then he wasn't happy with it on May 31st, do we expect him to release it anyway?
It's the same thing with injuries. There is nothing positive that can come out of saying that Embiid or Simmons will play on a certain date because if that date arrives and they aren't ready yet, you don't want them throwing them out there to save face.
The only time you can say with any certainty that a player that has been out for a long time will come back is if it is because of a suspension of some sort. Rehabbing injuries is a process that can't be rushed, and every player's body is different, and every injury is different.
Regardless, Simmons has been targeting a post all star break return for a long time, and that will end up being the case unless he has a set back.
Embiid is basically day to day right now, and the Sixers have been on the road. They would prefer to have him back at the facility rehabbing instead of traveling with the team.
