In the span of two years we went from "will Kemba ever have an acceptable outside shot?" to "Can Kemba win the 3 point contest?"

Truly one of the greatest shooting improvements I've seen.

He was a straight up brick mason his first few years and now honestly i wouldnt be upset if he just shot a 3 off the PNR on every possession.

It does make me wonder of the Hornets and the league kinda had a behind closed doors, wink wink deal to put Hornets in comps during ASW to make up for us losing the game.

Never did I think Kemba would not only be a participant in the 3pt shootout, but would actually be a chance to win it.

Kemba once again proving me wrong.

Great piece on Kemba - http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/basketball/first-time-all-star-kemba-walker-stays-true-nyc-roots-article-1.2964209

“I used to be all layups,” he says. “Even to this day, some shots that I make, in my head, I’m still pretty surprised. I definitely get amazed.”

Also this: "Hornets coach Steve Clifford’s off-day uniform consists of an all-black sweat suit topped off by a hood and anchored by a pair of matching sandals with white socks." :noway:

Did not know that Melo has Kemba's favorite player and that he wears 15 in honor of Melo.

I'm glad Kemba finally made the ASG and can't believe he made the 3pt contest and I hope he has a blast, but I also hope he gets some rest because he needs to step his game up.

His shooting has tanked in our last 10 - 21.6 points, 39.5% FG, 33.8% 3PT

he's collapsing under the immense weight of the entire team on his shoulders. It's also not surprising at all that this is happening with Zeller out

This piece is perhaps the best on a Hornets player for years. Great find YB. Too bad this comes from a reporter for another city's paper.

I know Ricky has settled into just writing gamers and quick news things since he's been doing it for so long, but it sure would be nice for some young talented up and coming journalist would write longer form pieces like this for the local team. Heck, it might actually make people more invested in the players and the team, and we might become more popular and legit nationwide. When people from other cities explore the Observer website, they must think, "Man, even Charlotte doesn't care about this team."
Who I woulda took:
2023: Miller | 2022: Duren | 2021: Bouknight, Jones | 2020: Ball | 2019: PJ | 2018: MPJ | 2017: Monk | 2016: Damian Jones | 2015: Winslow | 2014: Vonleh, Napier | 2013: McLemore | 2012: MKG | 2011: Knight, Kawhi

I'm almost 100% positive that he didn't get this foul call.

Yeah but he's had more than his fair share of 6-9 nights too.

Not trying to pile on Kemba, just doing some fun research. In franchise history, Kemba has 17 of the worst 100 games in terms of FG% for players who attempted 15+ shots in a game. Next worse is Mashburn with 9, Felton 7, Augustin 6, Baron 6.

Here are Kemba's worst shooting games, by FG%

2-16
3-17 (x3)
5-25
4-20 (x2)
3-15 (x3)
4-19 (x2)
4-18
6-26
4-17
4-16
5-20

In the other direction, franchise history, 15+ FGA, top 100 by FG%

Kemba has 5 of the top 100 games

11-15
12-17
16-23
11-16 (x2)

Franchise leaders - LJ 10, Mourning 9, Jefferson 7, Wallace 6, Gilliam 6

Jefferson probably has the best game in history in terms of FG% combined with FGA. He went 18-24 in a game.

What in the world is going on with kemba... he went from one of the best players in the league to awful the last few weeks.

I just saw him blow a fast break. Then get 2 turnovers and a technical in 3 seconds

He's coasting. He got that all star nod and he just wanna stay healthy until he get there. He's not trying to split PnRs or play aggressive really at all.

Hopefully that's all it is and he isn't coasting because of his contract.
The Charlotte Hornets will win their first round series against the Boston Celtics in the 2021 Playoffs

That better not be it, or my opinion of him will drop massively.

I'm hoping it's not a knee thing but it doesn't look like it, he doesn't seem hobbled at all.

He got straight embarrassed by Beverly tonight.

Yup and unfortunately I think that's the case.
