Now contrast that with the way he describes Russia.

President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

You know, Popper, if you misspell "affected," indicating that you don't understand the difference between that word and the very different word "effected," nate is going to think you are some dumb person not of the "white" "race."

Moreover, the point isn't whether the ban would have affected all Muslims but whether it would have affected those it did affect because they are Muslim.

Thank God for the American judicial system, btw.

Did anyone catch the braying jackass's tweet in response to the court ruling: "I'll see you in court," he wrote. Like, you know, you just beat me at checkers, & I respond "See you at the checkerboard." Nice to know that nothing whatever gets through to this foaming at the mouth dimwit.

Yeah. Sometimes I get them mixed up. I don't have a college degree but was fortunate enough to retire from the private sector at age 50. I will continue to depend upon you and other educated posters here to sort through my grammatical errors. And, btw, your take on Porter was spot on.

LOL.... Thanks for your gentlemanly response to my tirade of last night. I apologize for losing it. Feel free to beat me up one time about anything you like -- I owe it to you! :)

edit: as to "college degree" -- it was a commonly repeated joke in entrepreneurial circles that, hey, some people have to drop out of high school. Otherwise, who's going to employ all the college graduates?

Illuminaire wrote:The article that Nate linked is actually pretty darn solid, Donkey. It doesn't take the crazy conspiratorial position that THIS MUST BE HAPPENING. It sticks to the known facts (without twisted interpretations) and harkens back to actual cases of secret pedophilia rings that have been proven over the last 25 years. I agree with that article's general conclusion... there probably isn't a ton of truth to pizzagate, but if even 5% of it is, it's worth taking the time to consider and investigate it.

Because, sadly, people in power *have* used that power to abuse children before, and they will again.

I still don't think there is any truly credible evidence of wrongdoing coming from the amateur sleuths, but... them Podestas are creepy fellows. Maybe we can all agree on that, at least. :D

This is all pretty much disgusting.

As it happens, I knew John Podesta and his family reasonably well in the '90s, when his son and my step-son both went to the same public elementary school. In fact, he was the coach of the local little league team, & quite a good one. His wife was really nice as well.

As it happens as well -- & from a totally different angle -- I know the woman who started Comet Pizza (but have no idea whether she still owns it), & I know the place itself as well (tho I haven't been there in a few years, as I no longer live in DC & when we go back to visit kids they live in different neighborhoods).

Nothing these days is easier than to tar someone, & of course there are always people to keep the lies going on the Internet.

Here is an interesting and tragic voter fraud case that took place in Texas. A Mexican women is sentenced to eight years in prison for voting illegally. What's tragic about the case is had the county checked her eligibility to vote, prior to her voting, she probably could have just walked away without charge after being informed that she was ineligible. In this particular instance, verifying citizenship before allowing one to vote may have saved this poor women a world of trouble.

Flynn not being honest? Well I never!
https://www.nytimes.com/2016/11/18/us/politics/michael-flynn-national-security-adviser-donald-trump.html
General Flynn, for instance, has said that Shariah, or Islamic law, is spreading in the United States (it is not). His dubious assertions are so common that when he ran the Defense Intelligence Agency, subordinates came up with a name for the phenomenon: They called them "Flynn facts."

Flynn didn't lie. Just told them a Flynn fact.

What you guys don't realize is all of this is going EXACTLY as Trump planned it. He is VERY smart - you have to be in order to be a billionaire! He's running circles around not only us but the entire media. His genius is recognizable only to the very astute readers of Breitbart, Info Wars and 4chan. Those folks enjoy WINNING - not LOSING, and it's a matter of time until the libtarded fake news readers finally "get it" and remember what WINNING means.

More on the unfolding Russian/Trump scandal that may ultimately bring Trump down.

So smoke is billowing out of the chimney on this Russian blackmail operation, follow the sequence of events. ( in no particular order)

1. Trumps traitorous and preposterous defense of Putin on the election hacking.

2. The appointment of Tillerson who had received Russia's Order of Friendship Award in 2013.

3. The Dossier of dirt on Trump which the Russians have, parts of which now have been independently confirmed. So if parts of it are true, then we can make an assumption that additional components of the dossier are true as-well.

4. Oleg Erovinkin, the former KGB agent who was instrumental in gathering the dossier materials, showed-up dead.

5. Michael Flynn, Trumps National Security Advisor, discussed the lifting of U.S. Sanctions before Trump was even elected, why!?

6. IT sanctions in-place against Russia were lifted before folks had finished setting up shop at the White House.

There is a lot of chew-on here and the FBI is investigating, but what is their scope? Republican oversight investigations are narrowly confined to the election hacking.

OMG, if this exact same cloud were hanging over a Democrat President, an investigation with an eye towards impeachment would already be underway.

Hopefully CNN and the intelligence communities continue working on this after Trump took big fat dumps on both of them. It's about all we've got.

Wait a minute! I thought this dossier originated on 4chan.

Obviously, "fake news"

Latest on the Russian/Trump blackmail scandal. The CIA has denied a security clearance to Flynn. Given that our Intelligence ops warned their Israeli against sharing info with Trumps peeps, I'm betting that internally, they believe Trump to be comprised.

Fascinating times... the yoyo has begun - guessing the Rs will lose ground in the mid-terms.

It is interesting turn of events. The Ds helped create an environment that provided an opening for someone like Trump, but take no responsibility for the events that led to his election.

They lecture the opposition but didn't put forth the effort (or the candidate) in the election or the previous administrative cycle to ensure that coherent policies were moved forward.

Paraphrasing Edmund Burke - The only thing necessary for the triumph of bad government is to do nothing about bad policies.

There have been so many failures of government by both the Ds and the Rs that we now have a vicious cycle between the two.

When the party in power fails - the other party rejoices with the notion that they are less incompetent or evil than the other.

Sadly, since both parties are currently incompetent and evil (I know, tough word) and fail repetitively, the cycle is repeated.

We shouldn't blame the Trump supporters. We should blame ourselves for not holding our representatives to a higher standard. We should blame ourselves for not promoting a better candidate. We should blame ourselves for not insisting that bad policy goes away even with the loss of political capital - but we don't.

And then when the next candidate comes along with the mantra of "throw the rascals out", we are dismayed.
