KD is having a better defensive season because he doesn't guard the three point line but mainly the paint. And the fault is not in KD but in OKC because they played him almost always on the perimeter with Ibaka and Perkins/Adams protecting the rim.

He's putting on a defensive clinic in 1st half so far. I've never seen his contests and closeouts as tight as they've been this season. Speights and Jamal couldn't score against him on multiple possessions, Blake just missed 3 straight shots against him (think he's 1-5 against Kd) and he's done his usual elite rim protection along with superb help D so far, he's deflected at least 5 balls so far.

Don't think he can keep this up tho the size of Blake/Speights/Deandre has to catch up at some point

Yeah Durant is having one of the best defensive seasons from a wing player I've ever seen.

But then you think about it and its like "well, duh, he's 7 feet tall with long arms and he's athletic. So no **** he's dominating on D".

So it shouldn't really be this surprising. If anything, its more shocking that it took this long for a team to consistently play him in the frontcourt where his length could be put to use instead of letting it flounder around on the perimeter.

Maybe if OKC plays him at the 4 and Ibaka/Collison/Adams at the 5 more over the last 5 years, they have a championship. In fact i'm pretty certain of it.

I never understood why they didn´t roll with an Ibaka and Durant frontcourt more often. It would have been a ridiculously perfect fit. So many teams search for a big who can block shots and also shoot the ball, and they had two of them.

He was tragic tonight. Wouldn't hurt to rest him some games between now and then.

Defense was very good but yeah on offense he looked like 2016 Harrison Barnes. He just didn't have it going on that end and he knew it

He's been on record of not wanting to play the 5 for any extended stretch(ala LMA). Given his average man defense and rebounding I can see why they wouldn't try it against Duncan who lit him up at times.

While I'm quite happy for him this season, I admit sometimes part of me does miss seeing him in an OKC jersey. The return is going to be emotional for him for sure. Hope he handles it well.

Bulls with no Wade nor Jimmy that game almost forfeited it on purpose.

Worth the listen for any NBA fan. One of the best NBA podcasts I've ever heard. Basically touches on everything I couldn't even list them all out.
