Fab Melo Passes Away At 26

Fab Melo has passed away at the age of 26.

Melo had been playing in Brazil for Uniceub-BRB-Brasilia.

Melo was the 22nd overall pick in the 2012 NBA Draft by the Boston Celtics out of Syracuse.

Horrible news. This guy was an extremely hard worker and unfortunately for him always surrounded by controversy.
Apparently he passed away in his sleep and the cause is unknown as of now (or that's what's been reported). Hard to believe. Prayers out to his family and close ones - may he rest in peace.

Wtf... totally random and out of no where...
Just a couple years ago people were shocked he was a 1st rounder, quickly out of the NBA. This is tragic

I hope his family is doing okay

I wonder what the circumstances of his death were? Top flight NBA level athletes are scrutinized at a very high level, with lots of montering.

When young athletes die of natural causes, it is almost always heart-related, and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy is usually the main culprit. It can strike at anyone, anytime, without any kind of prior symptoms. Kids in their teens die from this thing at the library, in the classrooms, in their sleep, we just never hear about them because they are not famous. It's a very tragic thing.

another possibility is maybe he had undiagnosed sleep apnea. the other thought is he died in Brazil so foul play is always a possibility. especially since he probably had money from his NBA contract. life insurance policy? who's the beneficiary?
