It's really alarming the return that Rob got for Tobias when freaking Mason Plumlee was even able to get a 1st. Imagine if we got Detroit's 2017 pick in that trade. We'd potentially have another lottery pick. Complete misuse of an asset.

I think its a fair deal on both sides. This is a great move for Portland which means they are out of Ibaka sweepstakes. So Denver got for an expiring Nurk a starting caliber big man locked in a deal and a late first. Would be nice if we can get a solid rotation wing and a 20s 1st for Ibaka.

Nurkic has one more year before he hits restricted free agency. Plumlee will be a restricted free agent after this season. Denver gets a bit better this season as they add a frontcourt option that can share the court with their star. I have to think that Denver plans to keep Plumlee, so that probably made him a more attractive target for them than Ibaka. I think it's a good move for both teams. I just can't help but feel that we missed out on an opportunity here, but I guess we will find out.

Remember when people convinced themselves Hennigan preferred not to get a pick back so we would have more cap space? Lolol

Portland could still use ibaka at power forward. Nurkic & Ibaka could be a nice frontline

I think Portland got the better of the trade. I wouldn't take Crabbe and a first for Ibaka - I'll have the first and an expiring if there's nothing better available by deadline day.

Paying Allen Crabbe $54m over the next three seasons is not what a rebuilding team should be doing.

Probably true, but it's not out of the question that Portland could want to pair Nurkic and Leonard with Ibaka. They have three first-round picks now, so they might be willing to part with one, especially since their already-bad defense took another hit with the Plumlee-Nurkic swap.

Ibaka is like a iPhone 6 plus on ebay with 0 bids but 7 watchers. No activity until the last 10 min then the bids start going nuts.

I expect offers to start getting much better on the days before the deadline

Toronto is out of the Ibaka sweepstakes. Possibly more teams as well. Hennigan set the starting bidding price too high.

The article doesn't actually say anything about the cost of Ibaka, but it would be nice to hear that the asking price was high. I prefer it greatly over just giving players away.

Atlanta's asking price for Millsap didn't seem unreasonable though, so I have to believe that Ujiri just isn't willing to part with much to improve your chances this season and that Millsap would just be a rental. You have to start wondering how he plans to improve the roster if and when Lowry gets his big contract.

Don't know if he's credible but maybe Ibaka could still be in play here? We send them Ibaka, green, they send us ezeli Turner and a pick or 2, we take in cap to get picks?

That's a fair trade for both teams, but Portland probably comes out ahead. Portland made a smart gamble that Nurkic will likely explode as offensive option for them, which will make them pretty potent (not sure how they'll manage defense though), and they get a 1st rounder. Denver gets a quality backup C.

that's the guy from this board. i think he is credible based on other postings. I hope Portland gets better only because i would like to see DL have success.

Reported today by Marc Stein: http://www.espn.com/blog/marc-stein/post/_/id/4961/magics-serge-ibaka-appears-in-play-as-trade-deadline-approaches
Sources say that Toronto and Miami are among the Eastern Conference teams that have expressed interest in Ibaka this month. More than one rival club has expressed the belief that Orlando will use the next 10 days before the deadline to keep fielding offers and then, ultimately, choose the best available package for Ibaka on Feb. 23 and make the move.

Can the Magic get a first-round pick back for Ibaka from a team seeking a playoff-tested vet to add to its frontcourt rotation? Or a quality player under 25 a la Oladipo?

Like we said: Stay tuned.

1st rounder + patrick patterson + jared Sullinger expiring and cory joseph for Bismack and Ibaka. Is that a better deal?
