This is why you don't overvalue PG defense, especially when they couldn't improve their FT shooting through 4 years of college. He looks like MCW 2.0 and turns 23 in a month. Shooting splits of 369/.271/.580. Boston dodged a landmine.
I thought people were nuts for wanting to trade Noel to move up and take him 3rd. He's just an athletic gunner that can't shoot. This is yet another lesson to stop overvaluing older players that crush college as upperclassmen with a significant athletic and experience advantage. It's even worse if these guys didn't crush as underclassmen. Furthermore, these guys need to be NBA ready and start crushing like Brogdon because they have much less upside than 19/20 year olds. Unfortunately we see the same thing every year (Jimmer, McDermott, Kaminsky, Hield, etc), almost always from terribly run franchises.
People also overvalued his college 3 point shooting over 206 attempts while ignoring that he shot <70% career from the FT line, a much better indicator of NBA 3 point shooting ability. It's laughable that two NBA GMs took Dunn and Hield over Murray.
