I can't believe this organization was arrogant enough to think the fanbase wouldn't care that they strung us along all season with no intention to ever play Ben. All to sell tickets.

Like how little do they think of the people in this city? It's beyond insulting.

Him not playing this year would be disappointing, but if you divorce yourself from emotion and fandom, it's the most pragmatic approach.

The only reason I can think of to sit Ben is they are trying to re-construct his shooting mechanics and worry that return to the court will destroy the progress they have been making in practice.

Bynum was hurt and coming back from multiple injuries with a degenerative condition. They knew this and disregarded it to try & take a swing for the fences with him and struck out.

They knew Noel was going to miss the season, he had a torn ACL when he was traded for during draft night. No surprise there.

Embiid was already hurt during the pre draft process and they drafted him knowing he would be out at least that season. No surprise there.

Simmons was fully healthy when he was drafted. He played in the Summer League, looked good and was playing in training camp with the team when he broke his foot. Injuries happen. Its not like he was damaged goods and they disregarded it again knowing this. I see no correlation between Simmons' situation and the others who were already hurt and the team knew.

If they choose to sit him out to be "overly cautious" and feel it will benefit him, well then I'm fine with it. Sure it sucks, but I'm in this for the long haul. I simply just want clarity. If this is the intentions, just let that be known....not this through the ringer "next month" crap until the next month is the off-season.

The only reason they would do such a thing is this losing team wants to keep losing
to get more ping pong balls, lets hope the team as it is keeps winning its been great
the fans are sick of this team and its losing ways, draft picks are a joke and they are
trying to get rid of the last three. What did we get for the last five years of our lives
for being losers?embiid who cant stay on the court, simmons who has never even
played an nba game,how sad.

I dont think everyone would be as disappointed if it was properly communicated by management. "We are deciding to rest Ben for the remainder of the season and feel extra rehabbing will possibly prolong his career and strengthen the foots chances of staying healthy. We also have been extensively working on some of Ben's weaknesses though 1 on 1 training and feel focusing on developing those areas of his game along with the foot and surrounding areas will make his impact for the franchise that much bigger next season."

These guys are supposedly professionals. Just give clarity to the fans and it would alleviate so many of these "public perception" issues. Hinkie was no magician with the media, but he was pretty clear cut in his messages.

... and the rest of the team that you're "sick of", yet hope it "keeps winning", which begs the question: what do you want this team to be? If it's winning, shouldn't you like it and be happy right now?

I'm used to our redshirt program lol. I can't wait to draft Ball or Tatum or Fox or Frank and sit them for the season to learn. Even if they are completely healthy I want them to sit. My brain has been programmed to accept that like a dog gets trained over time and accepts certain things lol.

That's what I'm assuming will happen at this point. Especially because BC probably figures, hey we have a team that's winning right now! The fans will be happy about that.

Isn't that the very same pragmatic approach that got Hinkie railroaded and pushed out of town?

I know all of that, I'm just getting tired of the season ending injuries and stuff. It's the 5th year in a row and I am kinda exhausted.

What if the whole "He isn't playing 5 on 5 during the All Star Break" is more of a common sense thing because no one will be around? Don't most of the players usually get the week off to take a mini vacation and relax and refresh themselves before coming back and practicing a day or two before their first game after the break?

Is it one of those he isnt going to practice 5 on 5 because there wont be anyone around to play 5 on 5 with? Or perhaps he isnt going to play 5 on 5 because hes going to get away for a few days himself?

Just looking for some optimism in what seems to be a really dumb case of him still not being ready to play yet.

On one of the top Croatian web portals today there was an article about Darion and Sixers and among other things they mentioned Simmons, it stated that hes fully recovered and practicing with the team, according to them he could play tomorrow if they let him.

Of course he's fully healthy.

He would be the only player in history who wasn't recovered after this long of a rehab if he wasn't.

Clearly they are waiting until his bone is healed 200%.

They need to keep his debut a secret until the very last possible moment. Have him wear a tearaway dress suit and walk up to the time keepers table. Rip it off and be in full uniform and check into the game.

I don't think it's pragmatic to sit him.

1. Him playing puts no risk at his future career in terms of health

2. Him playing gives you an early glimpse of how he fits with the roster, potential draft/free agent fits

3. Him playing offers at least some developmental time this season, and one thing we've done well this year is develop players

To me the only move that makes sense is to play him if he's healthy.

Too risky. Better to wait until it's at 300%
