18-8 to finish the season?

Post#1 » by theBigLip » Tue Feb 14, 2017 3:50 pm

As much as the Milwaukee loss sucked last night, our schedule is looking good and I think the AllStar break will do us some good as well - since none of our players will be distracted this year :-)

So 18-8 remaining record and finish 44-38? The big question is, can we defend home court against good teams? That will decide our playoff fate. Here is what I'm guessing...

Wed, Feb 15 vs Dallas Win 27 30
Thu, Feb 23 vs Charlotte Win 28 30
Sun, Feb 26 vs Boston Win 29 30
Tue, Feb 28 vs Portland Win 30 30

Wed, Mar 1 @ New Orleans Loss 30 31
Sat, Mar 4 @ Philadelphia Win 31 31
Mon, Mar 6 vs Chicago Win 32 31

Wed, Mar 8 @ Indiana Loss 32 32
Thu, Mar 9 vs Cleveland Loss 32 33
Sat, Mar 11 vs NY Knicks Win 33 33
Tue, Mar 14 @ Cleveland Loss 33 34
Wed, Mar 15 vs Utah Win 34 34
Fri, Mar 17 vs Toronto Win 35 34
Sun, Mar 19 vs Phoenix Win 36 34
Tue, Mar 21 @ Brooklyn Win 37 34

Wed, Mar 22 @ Chicago Loss 37 35
Fri, Mar 24 @ Orlando Win 38 35
Mon, Mar 27 @ NY Knicks Win 39 35
Tue, Mar 28 vs Miami Win 40 35
Thu, Mar 30 vs Brooklyn Win 41 35

Fri, Mar 31 @ Milwaukee Loss 41 36
Wed, Apr 5 vs Toronto Win 42 36
Fri, Apr 7 @ Houston Loss 42 37
Sun, Apr 9 @ Memphis Loss 42 38
Mon, Apr 10 vs Washington Win 43 38
Wed, Apr 12 @ Orlando Win 44 38

I'm pretty confident in getting that 7th seed.

not even a chance.

41 w are enough for 7th seed, though.

This is probably one of the worst Eastern conferences in a while so I think the 7th seed is ours

I think this team will make the playoffs, but their ceiling is the 6th seed. They are playing better, but haven't shown enough consistency to rack up a nice win streak.

I do think they're in a better position than the field. The Hornets have been falling apart at the wrong time, and I don't see the Bulls or Bucks doing much better. Even Indy is starting to lose their footing. As long as they keep showing slow signs of improvement, they'll likely make the postseason by default.

Team hasn't had a 4 game win streak all season so its incredibly unlikely that they win 4 in a row 3 times moving forward.

Also might change Boston from good to great and predict even home games against Boston as losses as they've been the best team in the east since mid November after a slow start to the season.

Not a chance of 18-8. That's a 61 win pace to finish the season.

We'll be lucky to get to 0.500. That will likely be good enough for a playoff spot - maybe even a 7 seed.

Yeah I think .500 is the most reasonable expectation for this team this year. Honestly I would consider that with a 7th seed a success after this bi polar season we've had.

7th seed likely puts us in a series we have a realistic shot at winning though, so that's a plus. We still have 6 guys capable of putting up 25 on any given night, that's important come playoff time, we just need to pick up the defense.

I have to totally agree with you on the win streaks, but it does show how easy our schedule gets. I also think you're right about Boston, although I hate them, and it is hard for me to categorize them as "Great". But after looking at what they've done since mid December, it's hard to argue.

I don't care if it's 7th or 8th seed as long as it's not the Cavs that we are facing. I'm confident we have a chance to upset the Celtics or Wizards.

i honestly think its a matter of SVG rotations decisions. I strongly feel that if he continues to stick with Ish or the whole "when a players rolling let them play" we can most certainly at least hit 40 wins. If he decides to continue this," i am going to play the potentially better player and ignore lack of production and team response", we won't.

This far into the season, we do know "our teams good enough or talented enough", its a matter of coaches recognition into how our young players are reacting to each other.

Simple solution really is have RJ come off the bench. If he progresses , then let him earn his way back into starting role. Where this ultimately provides value is that RJ will be freash at the end of games where he has a knack for being clutch.

Keep thinking this team is about to wake up and be the team we thought they were... 7th seed time would be ideal.

We don't. Good teams will kick our weak ass in a playoff serie.

Unless we make a terrific trade that helps us immediately, there's about no way we're finishing 18-8. This team is too mentally weak. I think you've over estimated this team's strength of schedule. 10-16 is more realistic, imo.

I'll predict that this team finishes at the same pace they're on right now, because at this point this team has proved that they are what they are. They're not going to get better defensively meaning they need more offense, and the only way for that to happen is if they start playing differently...which also isn't going to happen. So that's 38-44 which may or may not get them the 8th seed.

Not trolling, why are you guys so much worse than last season? Seemed to be on the way up and should have been in the mix for the top seeds in the East.
