President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

GTN is positively Hands-like in his ability to respond for pages at a time. Hands had a better grasp of issues though. At least from what I can see whenever someone quotes him... GTN earned my one and only block for the way he 'discusses' basketball content.

Re: Political Roundtable Part XII
Are Trump supporters not concerned that Trump says we should not trust the Media, the Intelligence Agency nor any Judge that goes against him?
Why should we trust him over these other outlets when he does not provide evidence? His first and pretty much only defense is to put down the other side. It's the same tactics that a bad high school student would use.

You don't even listen to what I'm saying. Discussing anything with you is a waste of time.
Can you explain the differences in sampling methodologies between Rasmussen, the poll you trust, and all the other polls? Or no?
My point is, IT DOESN'T MATTER WHICH ONE IS RIGHT. They show different results, so clearly some are right and some aren't. But what we do know is that none of them are showing a decline as a result of the Flynn situation.

Flynn: Mr. Trump, some contacts I have within the Russian government are apoplectic about these Obama economic sanctions made during the last week of his Presidency. They're pissed and they want to know if we support this. They thought from your tone during the campaign that you would be trying to improve relations with Russian, not make them worse.
Trump: Well, clearly I don't support this. I'm am trying to improve relations with Russia. If they contact you again, just let them know that these sanctions came from Obama and had nothing to do with my campaign. Maybe it'll prevent them from doing anything rash in the next week.
Flynn: Will do, sir.
Or maybe, Flynn concluded the same thing on his own without first consulting Trump, and then told Trump about it after the Justice Department told Trump that Flynn and the Russians were communicating. Either way, I don't think it's that big of a scandal. Its a modest break from normal protocol made necessary by Obama's highly irregular imposition of sanctions a week before he is out of office.
if the conversation went like that, then why did the administration force Flynn to resign? Is it because Flynn didn't tell the truth to Pence? Neither did Trump.
The **** hit the fan when Flynn resigned/fired. I would think the administration would have only done that as a last resort.
Good point. It may well be that Trump and Pence weren't on the same page. Either that, or maybe, Flynn went beyond what Trump okayed him to do. At first, Trump and Pence both believed that Flynn merely communicated that the sanctions had nothing to do with Trump; and later they found out that Flynn went further and flirted with the "diplomacy" line.
One explanation for the Administration dropping Flynn would be that he lied to the FBI.

I have to think that at this point, a vast majority of Americans don't trust him. But again, very hard to prove.

And Puzder withdraws as Labor Sec nominee...
What a week!
Oh, boohoo. F off.
What a week!
A source close to the CKE Restaurants executive told CBS that Mr Puzder was "very tired" of the abuse he had received since his nomination last year.
Oh, boohoo. F off.
Mr. Puzder, a fast food chain CEO, has faced allegations of domestic abuse and of mistreating his workers.

And that it became public. They were happy to let this drag on privately. After the NYT story dropped Monday night it was, what, 30 mins or an hour later that he resigned?

And now the defense department could recommend sending convention ground combat troops to Syria. From CNN.

I would say the press has been pretty hard on him since Inauguration day especially on the travel ban but you are right, it does seem to be having diminishing returns on the poll numbers lately. Still, we are living in small sample size theater with the Flynn dismissal.

I wouldn't go that far but I do notice the pattern.....

I'm not sure if applies to their approval rating polls but for presidential elections Rasmussen relies upon using telephone calls. It is an older form of polling that is cheaper. Yes it was right in the 2016 election so it can't be taken with a grain of salt. Then again, it was perhaps the most innacurate poll in the 2012 election, overestimating Romney's performance by 4 percentage points and in other presidential elections has skewed towards Republicans.

I've posted this a few times, but 538 has rated the accuracy of every commonly used poll: https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/pollster-ratings/
Rasmussen received a C+ and is the 4th most Republican-leaning poll.
I don't think looking at a single poll is a valid way of drawing conclusions, and I especially don't think Rasmussen is a better poll because they happened to be right about the election. Nate acts like he has these super nuanced takes about polling methodologies, but really he's just relying on the poll that supports his narrative.

Overlord Trump on Flynn:
Then why was he fired? He was fired because the media was unfair to him? Was something untrue reported?
I think he’s been treated very, very unfairly by the media — as I call it, the ‘fake media,’ in many cases — and I think it’s really a sad thing that he was treated so badly,

I mean, this doesn't even make sense. People are so ashamed of Hillary's election loss that they're going to sabotage Mike Flynn to feel about it? Seems like a very arbitrary response.
