Re: The Frank Vogel Frustration Thread (Poll)
The biggest issue with this team is chemistry !!! Ibaka came in trying to make money and be the guy , not be part of building something . Then u bench all the guys who have been here for players who are not better ! That imo is when Vogel started to lose the team , he didn't stick with any line up other than Fournier and Ibaka . Players stopped sacrificing for each other because there was obvious discord . For a team like ours to work it would have to be everyone playing for each other and unfortunately that takes time to build .

Agreed. Vogel was very much a part of the construction of this roster. Hennigan is not an experienced GM... he relies heavily on coaching input and that especially seems to be the case this season as he constantly talks about him and vogel being a team. I don't think it's a coincidence we went big and wanted to focus on defense only... that is classic Vogel ball. The Biyombo signing has Vogel's name written all over it. Augustin (and Rudez) played for Vogel. Green met Vogel through Hibbert years ago. Elf, AG and Vuc all got benched early for these guys.
Exactly. So when people say the roster is why Vogel has struggled I think it's important for them to accept that Vogel had a part in that too. We got the exact guys he wanted for his system.

So the Rob hired a guy who strong armed him into a roster? Either way Rob hired him. The way you're making it sound Rob has to be the weakest GM in the NBA since this is now supposedly the 2nd coach that's forced him into moves.
I'd say it was more of a mutual thing, where Vogel wanted certain guys for his system and Rob wanted Franks system and style of play to get us to the playoffs. It was a failure on both parts. With all the "Fire Rob Hennigan" sigs you see these days I think it's fair to say most people feel that way about him though. Overall, he's been a below average GM for us. I'm not surprised

3 votes for option one now
.. I would love to hear their argument for why they feel he's been great.

I voted for 1. Vogel is not the problem. This roster is the problem.

How has he been great? In what areas has he improved the team? Especially when you consider he had a part in how the roster turned out.

Give me a break. He is not the GM. This is the second to the worst roster in the entire NBA and the reason for that isn't blamed on anyone new who came through the door this past summer. You need to accept that before you start blaming the coach. People LOVE to talk about how bad seasons create bad habits among it's players. Well, the roster that Vogel inherited was chalk full of players with bad habits, soft or inflated egos and young players who don't have the actual talent to shine when given the chance.
When this season began, I had as high as hopes as anyone. But it was heavily reliant on Payton and Gordon stepping up plus our new additions. Well, Payton and Gordon have had an up and down with more downs than ups kind of year. The new guys have had a hard time fitting in because the incumbents have refused to mesh. It's like the crazies are running the asylum. They've successfully driven Ibaka out and I'll guess that Ibaka will fit in nicely with his new team. I wouldn't be surprised if they want Vogel out like most of you here want him out.
You guys aren't seeing the root of the problem.

Really dont understand this "Roster is bad so coach is bad also" so he can only be good if he have good team?, "Everyone" can be good with great team, only the best can be good with avarage or bad players.
When I hear "good coach" first thing that come into my mind is overachieving , even with bunch of scrubs be better then every1 expected , take most of you team, constant improvement.
For example, if u give Carlisle a team of retards he would do a solid job. Im sure. Because he is good.

No I won't give you a break. Both Henny and Rob are at fault but Rob can't be the scapegoat. You are seriously going to deny that Rob didn't bring in the exact players Vogel wanted for his system? If Vogel has been great this year in your eyes then why has the defense been so bad? Do we not have defenders this year? Did everyone not think that we were going to be a top ten defense in the league?
I'm not buying that he's been great. He may not have a roster to win many games or score a lot of points but he sure has enough to be more than a bottom ten defense. A lot of blame can go to Vogel for our players not taking jumps this year also. The vet movement has delayed the development of our young guys. Has AG and Elf not been benched for Jeff green and CJ Watson at points this season? Has Mario not been given More DNP's than games played?
Vogels has not been great by any stretch this year.

We lead the league in blowouts. You have to put some of that on the coach.

I don't see anything wrong with the players that we brought in under Vogel. The problem is what was here when he got here. I still don't know why they are still here. We need to be cleaning house. Vuc and Fournier are at the top of that list. This is part of the root of our problem, and Henny not realizing that is the main root.
You can't transition with the rest of the league when you have an old school C like Vuc. You want to blame Vogel, yet credit Vuc for a defensive turn around? C'mon people. He's trying to do the best with what he's got and we've seen his mark. Gordon's defense on the perimeter is another good example of Vogel doing right. Majority of our fans didn't want that. They wanted Gordon at the 4.
One thing I can blame him on is not being strict in assigning roles and letting the crazies run the asylum. He tried to please everyone and he can't do that with this bunch. They are not disciplined enough.

Can't it be we have been garbage because we're playing them a lot of minutes?
There's not a lineup you can put together from this current roster that would have amounted to many more wins than we have right now. The thought that we magically have some type of saviors on our bench has had me laughing nonstop since October. Blame the coaches all you want. Blame the vets all you want. But the reality is and always has been that we're not a good basketball team this season. When Vuc, Evan, and either AG or Elf play well all in the same game, we have a chance to compete. Otherwise we are who we are.

Nobody wants to fire him, we are just disappointed. Him and Walton were most overhyped, overrated coaching hires in 2016. They got outcoached by Mike D'antoni who looks like genius by playing Harden at PG.
Harden's really been playing PG there for years. What Houston did right was getting even more players that fit D'Antoni's system. They still need an upgrade at the C position, but they have an identity and they have the players to fit that. I don't know what our Identity is supposed to be.
