I've never seen winning ROY made to be such a big deal as it is with Simmons

Who needs championships? All I want is to join that elusive list with studs such as Michael Carter Williams.

What a game changer it would be if simmons comes back and is able to hit 3s on a 33-35% clip on 3-5 attempts a game

As usual you are assuming facts not found in evidence. There is no reason to believe that winning ROY is more important to him than playing this year.

Relax guys. This is all just a tap dance. It has been decided that it would be best for the organization in the long run to get a top 5 pick in this years draft.

The problem isn't with BC or the front office. It's not with Ben or his agent. The problem is with Adam Silver and his stupid draft rules that make it advantageous to lose games to get a high draft pick... but force the tanking teams to not look like they're tanking!

Hinkie got fired for being honest. Now we have to live with this. Ride out the season and all will be well going forward.

I think that if the Kings had had a meltdown or it looked like the Lakers pick would come to us... we would have gone all out this year with Embiid and bringing Simmons back... making a run for the playoffs. But neither of those teams are dependable enough to count on for this season. Kings may finish too high for a good pick... and the Lakers are going to be going all out to keep their pick.

If we want our top pick... we are going to have to get it ourselves. This will be our last chance to get a top player with our own pick. Plus... by tanking hard... we can help win the Lakers pick this season also. So don't blame anyone but Adam Silver. We are just playing his stupid game of tanking but not saying we're tanking.

It was a huge impact adding Saric and a half a season of embiid this year. Imagine next year adding Simmons and possibly 2 top half off the lottery picks?

Well, there is no way to find evidence of it, but if you know abut his character it is easy to understand he cares a lot about accolades, I called it because I knew what was going on and why he was never going to play this season. At least I hope he is improving his jumpshot, even if it is just to solidify hos ROTY status next year.

His foot was healed and now it's not healed. And next month he will lose his foot and in 2 years he won't be even able to walk or something like that. Sounds like the worst injury ever.

Kind of wish there was a clause in the CBA where a player's contract wouldn't start until they stepped foot on an NBA court.

I get that but year after year it's "next year". Besides, is it possible for this team to draft player in the top 10 that doesn't get hurt?

Lets hope the guys that are playing keep winning, and i don,t think simmons wins rookie of the year
next season if he keeps out of games the rest of this year, its going to make him and the team
look like idiots,if he comes back this year there will be no pressure on him to win anything just
play and learn a little.

On June 6, Simmons signed a five-year, guaranteed $20 million contract with Nike, multiple people with direct knowledge of the deal told USA TODAY Sports. They requested anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly about the contract.

The deal also includes bonuses that will push the value above $20 million. Some bonuses are achievable with solid efforts such as All-Rookie team and Rookie of the Year, and some, such as first-team All-NBA and MVP, are difficult to attain.

What makes this deal unique? Nike doesn’t normally do deals at this base salary or include a bonus package at the level contained in Simmons’ contract, according to people with knowledge of the contract.

Oh men, I didn't remember this stuff.
So you're telling me that Simmons is going to leave on the table at least a couple of millions to play 20 meaningless games this year?

Let's face it: see you in 2017 Mr.Simmons.

Dat bonus tho...
If money is not an evidence then idk what to tell you...
I really hope he cares about accolades and all that stuff but in reality he is a hard worker when it comes to basketball, because his jumpshot is one of my least concerns about him right now...

Look, Simmons is all business and that is pretty clear from his documentary. YES, he can benefit financially from winning the ROY.

However, saying that he would prefer to wait until next season so he can compete for that award, is character assassination imo. The person who would prefer to wait in that scenario would have some sort of personality disorder. He should want to play as soon as he is healthy.

There's nothing wrong with waiting until next year. Why play this year?

For who? For what?

All it does is hurt the tank (and therefore his team in the future), and also hurt his bank account.

He can also spend his time working on his 1 weakness, his jumpshot, non-stop before he starts playing next year. He very well could become a better player for it.

The only issue is that the team should not string along the fans in an underhanded attempt to sell more tickets. Just come clean and tell us that he's not playing this year.

Ben Simmons must read RealGM. Lol. Go check his Instagram. He has clips of him working out and dribbling blindfolded and catching tennis balls while dribbling.

It's a bit dissapointing, but not surprising, that so many have jumped onto the ROY / financial incentive narrative. Very talkback radio ish. Really unfair on Simmons.

The real concern is that the kids injury hasn't healed properly after all this time. This organisation has a history of injuries not healing properly.
