He was drafted, what 3 years ago (Bruno), so that means he's only 1 year away now right? And he takes pictures with realgm'ers who are dating other realgm'ers sisters, correct?

Ranadive wanted to trade Cousins for Vucevic and Payton/picks. This guy is the biggest **** clown in the NBA. McD should rob him blind just to teach him a lesson :noway:

We have tons. I mean we are currently under the salary cap floor and need to take on more salary, but next season (not resigning any of our FA's) we stand at $69,865,658 of guarenteed contracts with an expected league cap of $102 million.

I'm sure we keep Len for around 15mil a year, extend Warren for 15mil a year, and keep Tucker for 10mil a year.

Is that really what it said? I'm too lazy to read it again but I had thought they were two separate points? The team explored trade talks with Orlando and Ranadive is having doubts about giving Cousins a max contract.

This is conjecture on my part but he supposedly loves Cousins, or the attention DC brings to the Kings; but he's also recently become enamored of the way the Warriors have intrigued the world and he seems to be fantasizing about creating the same kind of team in Sacramento. It's questionable whether you can do that with Cousins in the middle and that could be the reason he's hesitant to lock up his big man.

PG13 probably my favorite player in the league. Gotta hope the Suns are respectable by the time he hits FA.

He is the one "star" I would trade significant assets for, though obviously we would need commitment to re-sign, which is seriously doubtful with his tweet about wanting to play in Toronto.

Best we dump Tucker for a rookie scale contract then.

The problem with trying to get PG13 is that we would have to have other moves in place to get another star player. His own quote as to why he isnt willing to re-sign with the Pacers speaks volumes.

"As I told Larry (Bird), I always want to play on a winning team. I always want to be part of a team that has a chance to win it [all]. That's important," said George.

"Say what you want; I want to compete for something. It's frustrating just playing the game for stats or for numbers or to showcase yourself. Man, I want a chance to play for a chance to win a championship.

"I wanted to be the first and want to be the first to be able to bring a championship to Indiana. So that's still on my mind ... and something I definitely want to achieve in Indiana."

Im sure we could put a great package together to get George, but no way would he look at our team as its currently constructed and think of it as a "Winning Team". He would need some kind of assurance that we would be a winning team, and that assurance would most likely be in the way of another star player believing in us too.

PG13 is in the same boat as Garnett was in. He was at the end of his contract, but wanted to win. Garnett originally turned down a trade to Boston by telling them that he wasnt willing to re-sign with them, as he didnt see them as a winning team. Since they only had a borderline all-star, Ainge went out and made a trade for Ray Allen, and thats what made Garnett intrigued enough to accept the trade and let them know he would re-sign with them.

We tried and failed the 1st time we did this with Aldridge by taking on Tyson Chandler. We were close....damn close... but ultimately failed. Thats why i think getting PG13 would cost more than people think, as we wouldnt just need the assets to appease Indiana, but also the assets to appease a 2nd team by getting their star player too (and first).

So who's available to be our Ray Allen? Who is the player thats not a full on star, but holds enough water to convince George that we can be winners and he should allow a trade and re-sign with us? Whoever that player is, be sure if we were to work a deal like this, you could bet your ass that Warren/Len/Chriss/Bender/2017 1st/Miami 1st would be long gone.

But.......it seems like Indiana is trying to do the smarter thing, and put better players around PG13 so he considers re-signing, rather than trade him off. Word is that they are willing to move their draft pick in an effort to better themselves for the playoffs. They currently hold the 18th pick, so who knows. I doubt a player like Tucker or Dudley or Knight is enough for them to move the needle on trading that pick, as i dont think Geroge will see any of those players as a big enough improvement to stay in Indiana, but maybe we can be the 3rd team in a trade?

I like Paul but do people here still consider George a real star? I just think he's a pretty good player, not on the top level, not even on the widest interpretation of the next level. He's great to have if Lebron is in your path but I think you still need probably at least two players superior to him in order to compete for a championship. I don't think you could put solid players around Booker, Bledsoe and George and hope to be anything better than the Clippers of the past few years and probably not even that good.

http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=zk3s4zs

We cash in on Bledsoe and ship him to Indiana for Turner.

To sweeten the deal, we take back the corpse of Monta Ellis (and then promptly buy him out) AND ship Knight to Philly for Okafor whom we flip to Indiana to sweeten the deal.

Indiana gets a young low post scorer to learn from Al Jefferson and they get a all star caliber PG to compliment Paul George. Hell, I'll even send them Len in exchange for filler. If they ask for a Miami pick too... I tell them OK.

We get a young center to strengthen our youth and we take a PG with our pick this year.

2017 top pick/Ulis
Booker/Barbosa
TJ/PJ
Chriss/Bender
Myles/Chandler

Our entire starting 5 is all on rookie contracts and all 5 have legitimate chances of being all-stars.

A few more seasons in the gutter, but we match Minnesota for the scariest young roster in the NBA.

This is my ideal situation. Would Indy do it if we can get them the right package to entice PG to stay?

I'd do that but I'd keep Len. He is elite at rim protection and rebounding, which is valuable. He's also athletic enough to run the floor which fits our future style well. A Turner/Len center rotation is really good.

I would see if we could make it a 3 way trade while sending Tyson elsewhere.

I doubt it. Turner is the Truth. It would cost a hell of a lot more to get him.

I think discussions would start around Bledsoe/Chandler/Tucker for Turner/Jefferson/Ellis/Stucky. If they could find a way to dump Jefferson and Ellis's contracts, while also taking on better battle tested veterans, it would be a huge benefit to them.

Bledsoe/Tucker/George/Young/Chandler -- That would be one hell of a defensive minded team.

I just dont know about taking on Ellis and Jeffersons contracts. Ellis's isnt close to the player he once was, and he does have a player option for 2018-2019 for $11.5M (which im sure he will be taking). Jefferson was an instant regret for Indiana, but at least his deal drops to below $10M next season, which is the final year of his deal. That would be over $20M in salary just rotting away, as i think both Ellis and Jefferson will be hard players to trade off.

But then again Myles Turner is Myles FREAKIN' Turner. The Kid is a beast and i would love to have him as our C long term, but i feel like Indiana most likely feels the same way and wont let him go. I know if he was on the Suns he would most likely be considered untouchable.

Well consider my mind blown. Here im talking about taking on all these **** players on bad contracts for Turner, while giving up damn near all our solid vets, i come across this post on the trade board:

pacers33granger wrote:The problem is we don't really have a ton to salary match with unless Bird is planning to make some huge moves. Monta and Stuckey each don't really have value and have negative value to a lot of teams (if not all) so adding a first likely doesn't upgrade anything.

We have like 4 mil in room and Miles and Lavoy each make around 4 mil each so we're around like 12 mil. Miles definitely has some value on his own and Lavoy isn't negative by any means, but that's about what we can do. Brooks makes almost 3 mil I guess but that's a bunch of moving parts.

So really not even sure what could fit here. I suppose Faried fits the criteria in the front court, but I personally can't fathom giving a first (and likely Miles who is worth a very late first himself imo) unless Stuckey is going out and even then I'm iffy on that.

Well damn, i guess i really overvalued Turner. I was willing to give up much better players that would make Indiana a much better team, while also taking on not just Stucky's contract, but Ellis and Jeffersons deals as well, JUST TO GET TURNER without the 1st even being included.

I think this post is referring to CJ Miles not Myles Turner.
