Yes LA Lakers wuld be very wise to Tank hard given their situation.

Totally ambivalent if the Laker pick conveys this season or we wait until 2018(unprotected).

We have enough going on this offseason/next season without the Laker pick.

Laker #1 pick most likely will be right back in the lottery in 2018.

I have no doubt that the 2018 Laker pick would be in the lottery again, but will it be in the top 5, and what about the strength of the 2018 draft vs the 2017 draft?

I realize that it is still early, but THIS is the year to have two top ten picks imo.

Give me this year. I'm tired of waiting on the Lakers pick. Plus I hear next year's draft is filled with big men. No thanks.

They have a pretty good discussion going on about this in the Sac Swap thread but I will finish here by saying this is a good draft to have 2 picks but I still will not be bothered 1 iota if the laker pick rolls to the 2018 draft .

A couple longtime scouts have said that DeAndre Ayton is the best HS Player they have ever seen. These kids just keep getting bigger and better.

Ayton is 7'0" 250 lb in HS. He has the frame of a Patrick Ewing but he has skills like Embiid.

2018 draft is loaded with Bigs. There is a 7"0 kid Mo Bamba currently playing for Westtown School who is expected to go top 5 .

Ayton is going to U Ariz

Michael Porter going to U. Washington . Not sure how U Washington is getting these premiere HS ballers but Id probably be investigating.

The Seattle and surrounding Wash area seems to be extremely proud and loyal to there area. I think A lot of those highly touted kids from Seattle/Surrounding Wash go to Washington simply because of the area.

There's also Doncic, who some have projected as first overall for '18. I've seen Larry Bird comparisons :o

Yeah, Washington players are usually all from the Pacific Northwest.

Nate Robinson, Brandon Roy, Spencer Hawes, Isaiah Thomas, Tony Wroten, Terrence Ross, Dejounte Murray. All from the Washington area.

Fultz might be from the east coast, but he probably chose Washington for their history of producing NBA talent.

Id bet money ayton going number 1 in 18. As mentioned 18 is loaded with bigs. This 17 draft is perfect for sixers...hopefully jah if traded brings back something in 17 instead of 18.

On the contrary....if you move Okafor and possibly lose Noel/Ersan via FA....suddenly your not as deep with big men as you thought.

Let's also not forget Embiid has yet to stay healthy for an extended period of time. I'd rather a pick in 17 too, but having another pick in 18, likely in the lottery isn't really a bad thing.

Integrating our own pick/Simmons(I don't think he plays this year) and any other off season additions will be plenty to look forward too.

ESPN reporting the Pacers are shopping their 1st rounder for a wing or front court starter. Not sure if they'd want Okafor.

Patrick Ewing was only 6'9 barefoot btw. He was one of those guys that had the height of a 4, but the wingspan and reach of a center. He was an absolute terror physically though on both ends, and competed his ass off. He was like a more talented version of Dwight Howard, with a nice soft touch.

Ayton is a beast, but of course he is a center. I know that there are a couple more highly touted prospects too, but if we get the 8th pick for example next year, that might be like the 12th pick this year. Nice to have, but a big drop off from 4-5 this year.

Getting the Lakers pick deferred on each of the last two years was mildly annoying, but getting it this year would be heartbreaking for me. I really want 2 of the top 6 this year.

I'll happily take 5 and 6.

Im not saying you never draft a big again im just saying immediate need is a guard and the 17 draft is guard/wing loaded.

Still will have embiid/holmes and a boatload of 2nds for extra bodys, not to mention simmons who has potential to play small ball 5 if needed.

Would i take ayton sure even tho his time would most likely be limited due to embiid. Would i take fultz or ball over ayton as team is currently constructed hell yeah. The last thing we need assuming embiid is healthy is a top 3 pick on a big. Would love Doncic. Prob should be typing this in draft discussion lol.

I prefer the Lakers' pick next year.
I just can't imagine a team with 3 and a half rookies on it (pick PHI, pick LA, Simmons and Embiid).
Don't seem a good environment for young players to grow.

And I really can't imagine 6 or 7 teams being worse than the Lakers next season.

Brooklyn, Orlando yes. But then?

Lakers will still be 3rd-5th worst in the league. And the 2018 draft really doesn't seem that bad at all (Porter, Ayton (imagine him and Embiid), Doncic, ...

I prefer one of them over Isaac or Dennis Smith tbh

I'll answer for them. No the Pacers definitely don't want Okafor and give up their first round pick.

They already have Al Jefferson, don't need his younger version do they?

But I would take Al Jefferson (1 more year on his contract, than TO) and the next 2 first round picks (2017 and pick swap in 2018, when PG is maybe traded).

Well getting the pick next year would still be a terrific thing. I'm just tired of it being deferred, and if we could get it at 4 or 5 this year I would take that over the uncertainty.

Last year I was hoping that we didn't get it seeing as the 4th pick last year was worth a lot less than the 4th pick this year .

This is a good year to take it. There's a good chance it will be ahead of our pick. And we need to draft a guard.

Not really tho. They are going to have to pay IT, Bradley, and smart. All guards plus draft a guard. Then they have to have those guys actually pan out
