No matter how **** the raptors are, as long as the clipplers are better, that'll be the pick you get

Maybe Griffin will punch another member of the staff.

Realistically the best we can hope for is 19th-21st, it'll be 25th though more than likely

Right now its the 25th and it will stay that way. CP3 is still out so when he comes back, you could see them pick up some extra Ws. Im predicting its gonna be 25-26. You never know who will fall. If we can pick up any of;

Adebayo
Luke Kennard
Justin Jackson
Josh Hart
Miles Bridges

Also dont forget we will also have the 33rd and 34th pick(assuming Lakers keep their top 3). Our FO needs to scour this draft like the plague.

There are some pretty good prospects in the 20's this year..Hoping we can get one of the elite wing/guards with our first pick, then go for an athletic big with rim protection and finishing potential
aol4532 on bill russell
I think if you put McGee back then, he would get those blocks just as easily as Russell did. Russell's athleticism was well ahead of the players of his time, and that's about it.

Can also try to package the pick with our 2nd to move up.

I would like to use our later picks to move up either from our Clipper pick our our own. Some really good bigs will fall into the 14-23 range. Patton or Giles with our second pick would be huge.

This would be my number 1 choice, package this pick and a 2nd to move into the late lottery if there is someone we really want or a high risk (Gannis type player) and take a swing

This is ABSOLUTELY how I would want to go (if possible). "Take a swing". Stars win. The safe Sabonis's of the NBA get you to the middle of the pack and keep you there...It's also why GM's get fired. No guts, no glory! Hinkie's a hero now, but what if Noel and Embiid were both Grant Hill level injuries? he'd be the worst GM that ever lived. What if Porzingis was Bargnani, Giannis was Thon Maker, etc. You can always sign the Sabonis's and Watson's and Zellers (role playing vets) of the NBA to fill in your roster..don't draft them.

Read on Twitter

Some protections (Clippers top 10) (Raptors Top 14) but looks like we will simply get the worse of the two picks this year. Otherwise it could turn into two 2nd should one of them miss the playoffs and go under the protection.

It would be extremely surprising for iether team to miss the playoffs Let alone both of them miss. As great as that would be it's probably a pick around 25. At the very best we could hope for a low 20s pick. Iether way that with our low second round pick and some creativity we could try to move up in the draft to get a higher pick.

why do posters want a higher pick? who in this draft is worth the move up? I'm not seeing that big a gap between say, middle of 1st round to end. Like, if Caleb Swanigan is still on the board when that pick comes that's a good pick. What if Hartenstein is available? perfect draft and stash candidate IMO for the 25th pick.

Won't matter. It is not like the team is going to get a difference maker with this pick.

It's actually pretty sad that those protections were included. There is basically zero chance that the Clippers and Raptors miss the playoffs. It's a negotiating ploy to establish an initial price. You include protections in an offer so that the point of negotiation then turns to the protections instead of the choice between picks. It's the same reason cars are overpriced on the lot and listed at $19,999 instead of $20,000. The negotiation starts from a position highly favorable to the seller. It's amusing in a sad way that the final deal still included such meaningless protections.

I agree. It is very interesting how these protections can make a big impact if they reach that point. Take for example our trade for dwight involving the Lakers pick. Philadelphia gets the Lakers pick this year unless it falls in the first 3 of this draft. Then we get the Lakers pick unprotected in 2019. But if Philadelphia doesn't get that pick we lose the 2019 first round pick and get 2 second round picks instead. It looks very possible that we might get the 2 second rounders. It'll come down to the lottery. Maybe this will be the lottery gold we've been missing the last few years.
In contrast to that is the trade between Brooklyn and Boston. All those picks unprotected. Without the protections of the picks in the dwight trade the Lakers would be in the same boat as brooklyn. I can't imagine any GM ever making a trade involving first round pick noto having at the very least a protection of 1-5. It's a built in way to save the GM if the trade doesn't work out.

The protections in the tross ibaka trade are completely irrelevant though. When were already half way through the season there's virtually no chance that both the clippers and raptors miss the playoffs. Better to play it safe than turn out like Brooklyn.

I hope Terrance Ferguson is still on the board when we make this pick. Biggest sleeper in the draft
