We'll keep Bledsoe and hope for Cousins in 2019 FA.

Bled can help lure Boggie next year. Boogie can pick his team...
Boogie just got screwed out of $50 million and I doubt he will be willing to take even less money by walking away from the Pels who can still pay him more than anyone else.

Re: The Boogie Watch
What makes you all think we didn't best that offer? Every time I read on here that the Suns should trade all of their assets except Bledsoe and Booker for Cousins I laughed. There is no rule that superstars get equal value in the trade market. In general, historically you get 3 or 4 of the following: young players with upside, good veteran, and first rounders, with one of these being the clear center piece. I expect that Phoenix probably did offer Warren and a first of some kind, plus the usual (Knight, Len). That is better than the NO offer.
What you have to realize here is that Vlade is awful as is the ownership group. Vlade had to be told that they had to conference in the NBA league office to complete a trade. He doesn't know what he's doing, even though he's a very nice guy. I was hopeful when the Suns were mentioned simply because of my faith in Vlade being awful. If we traded our first this year plus a bunch more I would be worried/pissed, but I think almost any combo of players/picks we offered was better than NO's offer, and Vlade and ownership just loved them some Buddy Hield. You can't control that.

No need to go extreme. Cousins trade has dictated the trade market. At this point, Bledsoe's trade value has dropped CONSIDERABLY.
Best now to play the trade game and buy low on good players.
Buy low? All the teams holding a boatload of assets still have those assets! The Kings got nothing for Boogie. Didn't even take out one of our trade competitors. They gave the guy away.
This trade makes it more difficult to add a quality player. Not less.

Yeah. I mean, the Pelicans didn't have a package outside of AD that would make me give up really even the 4th or 5th best prospects on our team. I wouldn't have taken that offer for Bender. I am not even joking. It is ridiculous that NO got Cousins out of that mess.

I've literally said this a thousand times, but others were telling me that Booker MUST BE INCLUDED in any trade for Boogie. Baffling to me that we didn't end up with Boogie.
Boogie/AD is a recipe for disaster.

No but in all seriousness, let's just keep that tank rolling, not much we can do at this point but go all in for the 2017 draft.

asudevil wrote:OK...with Cousins be shipped I'm somewhat confused, but at the same time somewhat excited.
a.) If you look back throughout EVERYWHERE, the idea was the Cousins would command something like this from the Suns: Suns 2017/2018 First/2021 First/Chriss/Warren. And even Boston fans were stating they WOULD beat it.
b.) Cousins has dictated the trade market this season. With a number of stars in the same position as Sac, there is the ability to make a move that would cost 1/2 as much as we are all thinking.
c.) Could NBA GMs be dictating that draft picks are the cream of the crop?
d.) NBA fans have no idea what the hell real market value is.
e.) are "old" contract valuable. Do GM's think that any decent player making $15mil is better NOW than paying the same type of player close to double that in a few years? Does Knight have more value now?
I think this RUINS the Bulls' likely hopes of landing the Nets pick for Butler. This sets the market but it's the Kings market which is different than the norm.
McD should now focus soley on Paul George (not Butler).

Re: The Boogie Watch
I'm still baffled
We spent months building some weird trading for Boogie and we get one even weirder.
Doesnt feel like real life.

This is what I'm hearing...
Suns trade:
Brandon Knight
Alex Len
TJ Warren
2017 -1st round pick UNPROTECTED
KINGS:
Demarcus Cousins
Omri Casspi
It's far from being done but those are the parameters..
That's insane.
A near negative value player- Knight
A pending RFA underperformer- Len
A decent rotation (with some upside) 3rd year player-Warren
And a 2017 first that could land anywhere from #1 to #10 if the deal happened this week
Makes zero sense!
If McD gets Cousins, I'll be stunned if the deal doesn't require at least, at a minimum Chriss or Bender And 2 first round picks...'17 plus another. Then a Len or a Warren.
I'll take a Cousins trade for that ridiculously low price if that's all it takes..despite my fears. I don't believe it, and at the "prices" I think it would take, I'm saying "no". Too risky.
Believable prices below-
Boogie for Bender, Warren, Len, '17 and Miami '18?
No
Cousins for Chriss, Warren, Len, '17 and Miami '18?
No
Cousins for Chriss, Warren, Len, '17 and PHX '18 or '19?
no.
Cousins for Warren, Len, '17 and Miami '18 or Knight
Risky still but ok, I'd do it. Unbelievable IMO
EDIT: Just found out it's done. Truly shocking! The NO deal!

Not IMO. After the Cousins trade every GM looking to add a star player will be comparing their assets to what it took to trade for DC. So as not to look stupid, they will more than likely be low-balling and holding firm with the DC trade as a support for the market value of star players. Counter offers from teams will be inched up instead of "trumped" up.
THIS is why Bledsoe's value is lowered. No team is going to offer up a lotto pick knowing the Cousins didnt even fetch that. In that regard, IMO these questionable assets (draft picks) now hold more value than star players who are unhappy (ie: Butler/George).
I will agree though, the trade market for buyers has opened up. But the market for players has started LOW and will move up.......instead of the average NBA fan believing the market will start HIGH and move to LUDICROUS.
We are buyers right now, not sellers. And at worst, we stand firm knowing that our "unknown" assets have quite a bit of value (assets we have more of than 90% of teams.)

There's no 2019 pick per David Aldridge.
