I don't know if outsmarting Vlade indicates one has Jedi powers. It's more like he took advantage of the village idiot.

Marc Stein is on Colangelo payroll so I take it with a grain of salt. But a lotto protected first would make sense.

Not sure what to expect from Boston.

I'd take Jaylen Brown as a three way deal sending Okafor to Chicago.

If Butler is on the market, I hope BC is all over that.
Even only to rise the price Ainge is going to pay to secure Jimmy.

BC is too dumb to drive up the price of Jimmy, he just got played himself by Portland.

Almost no chance of that happening, I'd imagine. I'd drive him to the airport myself though.

Not sure Boston beats a Chi protected first. They are likely offering serious garbage or a 2nd for a Okafor.

They wouldn't put in Terry Rozier for **** Boogie Cousins. If it's more than a 2nd and some flotsam I'd be amazed.

I'm sure the Celtics only interest would be part of a 3 way with Bos/Phil/Chi and Okafor heads to Chicago plus others, Butler to Boston and some return to Philly. I doubt Boston has interest in Okafor for themselves.

So the Lakers refused to trade Brangon Ingram for Boogie, straight up? Good lord.

Team that gets Okafor has a better chance at Butler! My guess is either Mudiay from Denver, or Smart from Boston.

If I'm Ainge I would offer BKN17 to the Sixers for Noel & Okafor. Keep Noel, and trade Okafor, Jaylen Brown, Tyler Zeller (salary) and BKN18 to Chicago. Might even include more if I had to, to get: Isaiah Thomas, Avery Bradley, Jimmy Butler, Al Horford, Nerlens Noel; Terry Rozier, Marcus Smart, Jae Crowder, Amir Johnson, Kelly Olynyk.

So, actually the deals weren't similar at all.

Top 20 then what? If it was say top 5-10 protected in 2018 then Pumpkin head should have jumped on it. A mid 1st would be a great return IMO.

We don't know, however it was being condemned because of what was thought to have been a similar protection to what the Kings got because that's what was reported, initially.

Fact is that what we do know, not a great trade.

Ric Bucher: Source w/reasons Pels got Boogie: Cs (too focussed on getting Butler), Orl (could’ve had him, balked) & Phx (Sac didn’t want BKnight). – via Twitter RicBucher

So, and hear me out, what happens if we sent Noel to Boston, Okafor to Chicago, and we get the 2018 Nets pick in our portion of the Butler trade. Everyone gets to go home. Butler and Noel to Bos. Smart, Okafor, Brown and Crowder to the Bulls.

Little thought went into this but it solves problems of ours, I guess. And we'd get a future incredible draft pick. Boston becomes the number one contender to the Cavs.

Sorry but you don't help another team to get Butler. Expecially if you have the assets to try by yourself.
Let alone if that team is in our division.

I think the Lakers passed on that trade for a few reasons.
1. Boogie would help them win and hurt their tank and if they lose the pick then they also lose the 2019 pick too.
Unbreakable's thoughts on this: I understand this but they can still lose the pick to us even if they are sitting at 2 or 3.

2. The Lakers may think Boogie is too much of a headcase to throw money at when he becomes a FA.
Unbreakable's thoughts on this: I can see that but he still is much better than anything you have

Overall would I have made that deal? Yes. I would hate to lose the pick this year and in 2019 but since it's not guaranteed to keep the pick regardless I would rather get a top player.

I'm torn, that 2018 BKN pick is a good return even for both of Noel and Okafor. But I'd rather not help Boston. So irrationality wins and no because f*** Boston.

Stauskas? Hield? Really?

Stauskas was a significantly better prospect than Hield, but I agree that Ranadive seems to massively overvalue that archetype.

Older college shooters. Stauskas did have a more versatile skill set, but in the end, he was alluring because he was 6'6 and shot the three ball very well.

I think I read an article that Ranadive is obsessed with the Warriors and probably wants to implement that style of play. Good luck finding Steph!

I hope we can sale Okafor 20 and 10 "out of bed" to the kings for WCS and Mclemore.

Trade Noel for a lottery pick.
