MKG and a 2nd to the Pelicans for TYreka Evans (expiring) and their 2017 1st

Surely AD would welcome a trade for his buddy from college, and we get an expiring contract and a lottery pick

"Just" 28 million eaten up almost entirely by two middling pick and roll system players is not a good thing.

Your premise seems to rest on minimizing Cody to middling and categorizing PnR as a system. I think you're off on both accounts.

Regardless, 27%-to-2017 cap for Cody, Miles, and Frank who cover 48 C minutes and 20 PF minutes is a solid bargain considering CHA can now use the full MLE at another position like the dire need at backup PG.

None of the reviews of this trade were positive for Charlotte but I happened to agree with the sentiments of the foxsports writer the most:
"Paying a combined $94 million to Cody Zeller and Miles Plumlee over the next four years makes me nauseous."
"There’s just no easy way to defend trading for a rarely used, 28-year-old center who was just signed to a disastrous four-year, $52 million contract last summer.

And I get nauseous reading 95% of the stuff floating around. Oftentimes - at best - earnest attempts at legitimate writing with the ultimate goal of attracting common denominators. At worst, failing to grasp CBA rules and skills NBA teams are looking for.

As it concerns the Plumlee deal, you might as well officially proclaim yourself to be nauseous by a full 100% of the stuff floating around because, not coincidentally, I dont think you'll find a single sportswriter from any of the major outlets who considered taking on Plumlee with the size and duration of his bloated contract to have been a prudent move.

Admittedly, I dont disagree that when it comes to the NBA, there is alot of garbage floating around by authors who clearly have a poor grasp of the workings of particular teams and the sport in general. But there are also some talented writers out there who produce top shelf material.

The aforementioned Foxsports pieces on the deal are cogent, quite objective and go into great detail as to how well Miles' game fits into Charlotte's system (which like Utah's in the late 90s is heavily reliant on the pick and roll in most of its sets).

http://www.foxsports.com/nba/story/nba-trade-grades-bucks-set-to-deal-miles-plumlee-for-roy-hibbert-spencer-hawes-020217

http://www.foxsports.com/nba/story/what-charlotte-hornets-see-in-miles-plumlee-020317

They're good reads which I'd recommend. Like me, the author has nothing disparaging to say about Miles as a player but merely questions the wisdom of taking on his salary through 2020 and the size of his contract relative to the level/consistency of production he brings to the table.

Given some of Charlotte's past trade history during the Bobcats era, especially the ill-advised Diop deal, I got a good laugh out of the irony of stumbling upon a piece recently that included plumlee among the 12 worst contracts in the NBA (Noah was #1 if I recall).... only for Charlotte to subsequently trade expirings for him a week later.

I'd sign on in a heartbeat

With MKG's value having taken a hit with his stunted development and NO already having Soloman Hill singed long term at SF, I'm not sure if the Pels would bite though.

Hill could back up MKG and they could play smaller at times with Davis at the 5, MKG at the 4, and Hill at the 3

Nah, I'd pass. Bledsoe isn't the healthiest of guys and I'd rather keep our first.

Well, the Pelicans may need some help at the Wing now, and are looking to move Terrence Jones. But the Pelicans don't have much else to give up, do they?

They'll still have Donatas and Asik on the bench so I think they'd be fine with bigs.

I bet they would do either of those deals for either lamb or belinelli if Charlotte pitched it. Especially with them making a playoff push now that they have Cousins.

Ajinca is a capable big man signed through 2019 at only 5 mil per year. Acquiring him as a budget back up center in a trade like this would have made a lot of sense. But alas, our genius FO masterfully out-maneuvered the rest of the league knocking down Milwaukee's door to land the coveted Miles Plumlee instead, at over double Ajinca's salary through 2020. So not sure if such a NO trade would make sense for us now.

I hope Cho find his way in on that Terrence Jones deal. But I hope he can keep Lamb in the process.

Jones is on a one year deal with no bird rights. He has virtually no trade value.

Why would we want to trade a wing for Jones? Hes probably better than Plumlee, but we are already committed to four bigs and actually need more shooting/scoring. I doubt we trade one of our shooter/scorers for another role playing backup center.

We can only really afford to address maybe one need with the assets we have and our biggest weakness is backup PG. We can't afford to give up our 1st unless it is for something substantial because of how bad our record currently is, even if we are making a playoff push. The most I'm willing to give up in a win-now move is dead weight like Sessions and a 2nd or two.

Kings are clearly tanking.

Ramon Sessions + 2017 or 2018 2nd for Darren Collison

Phoenix is shopping Brandon Knight again.

Ramon Sessions + Belinelli/Lamb + 2017 2nd for Brandon Knight + TJ Warren

We probably wouldnt want to do this now that New Orleans has Davis. That pick might not end up being very good. Holiday/Moore/MKG/Davis/Cousins, actually seems like a pretty awesome starting lineup.

MKG and Sessions to PHX for Warren (or Tucker) and PHX first?
