Let's give him a chance to develop and see what happens. We have him cheap for several years with out options if it is not working. The reality is we have had NO answer at shooting guard at all for a long time. At this point, it's open tryouts.

And now the stockpile mess at PF the Kings had for years may have just moved to SG. For the first time in 10 years the Kings had some semblance of path, and some sense of order in roster. If Bogdanovic comes, where does he play? This is another issue where you have your two brightest building blocks at the same spot. Of course Bogdanovic should be able to play some PG and SF but still, you don't win with awesome depth at one spot.

Bogdanovic more SF/SG than PG.

I don't know, I see some James Harden/Manu Ginobili in him. I wonder if Vlade sees the same thing. He's a pure pick and roll guard.

Yeah I think this is correct so could possibly see line ups like
Bogdanovic
Heild
Temple
Tolliver
WCS
This trade really opens up some interesting line ups and could be really exciting. Need to cash in on Kosta and BMac tho and get whatever we can.
Vlade has to open up PT for the young guys, stuff Afflalo, Kosta etc

In Vlade's interview on 1140 he said Richardson and Bogdonavic can both play the 3. Specifically he said Bog can play the 2, 3, and maybe even guard a couple 4's...never mentioned anything about pg.

That's interesting, he did play a little PG at the Olympics. Not sure if he does in Europe now. Anyway it does give plenty of options, would perhaps like a better suited SF full time tho

Stauskas is a 3rd year with 200 games and 4300+ minutes under his belt. You would like to think he would be better than a rookie, no?

To Hield's credit, he is a MUCH, MUCH better shooter than Stauskas when compared to his first 2 years of his NBA career. Heck, if it wasn't for Hield's first month of bad shooting, he would have a higher 3PT% than Stauskas NOW. Look at my previous post above, Hield has been shooting the rock A LOT better since December. Stauskas has never matched Hield's shooting numbers yet -- when you compare him during this stretch of games.

I reckon that Hield is probably the best "shooting" guard that the Kings have acquired in a long-time.

These are mental gymnastics. Hield entered the NBA as one of the supposed most NBA ready players of the draft without the upside of other picks. He was supposed to be a one dimensional sharpshooter in the mold of a Dell Curry. A guy who will play mediocre defense due to his size and athleticism. A guy who can't create his own shot and get penetration. A guy who doesn't create for others.

Personally, I think it's rad obsession with finding the next Steph Curry he keeps signing, trading for, and drafting these non-athletic guard types hoping against hope they become the next Curry.

This isn't mental gymnastics -- what I'm stating are the facts with context in mind.

So what people predict Buddy to be "NBA ready"? A lot of people predict the wrong things all the time. The rule of thumb in most cases for rookies is that you need to give them 3 years before making any determination if they are going to stink or not. Buddy is in the midst of his rookie season. Relax.

I most certainly think we could have a roster that will be exciting next season.
Having said that I'm not sure they will be pieces Joerger knows how to use properly. We will see won't we.

That lineup you posted has got to be one of the most depressing I have ever seen..

Hield has exactly two 20 point games this season, that is with jrue and tyreke out a good amount of time..not exactly the type of year I'd expect from a 23 year old rookie selected in the lottery

Where did I say that would be our starting line up or even our most prominent line up?
That line up doesn't take into account potentially Collison, Gay, Lawson and 2 lottery picks.
Look at the pieces we not only have, but potentially could have next season, that is what I'm saying, it's not all doom and gloom and while I'm pissed at the trade as much as the next person I would like to look at the positives as well.

One shouldn't put too much stock into Hield's counting numbers because he is, after all, a rookie.

However, like many others, I am not a huge fan. He will probably have a ten year career as a shooter, but it's difficult to see him being anything more. He can't finish in the lane and he can't get to the line. He is not particularly athletic and looks to have below-average handles. Throw in the fact that he is already 23, and it's fair to say that there's not a whole lot of upside. I saw another poster invoke Jodi Meeks and I think that's a good comp.

Vlade is seriously on something. I don't think Bogdanovic can play the 3 at all...let alone 4. 6'6 is way too undersized for SF. He doesn't have the strength at all. He's like 6'6 200lbs, while a lot of SFs are 6'8 220/230lbs.
People speculate that Bogdanovic can play PG because he's played in his youth, and also because he can play on and off ball. It looks like he excels more with the ball in his hands.

I agree with you. I just can't see Hield becoming anything more than a Meeks-type player. His shot creating ability in college doesn't mean anything in the NBA, because it obviously hasn't translated. His ball handling has always been solid, but his lack of moves paired with his lack of quickness, prevents him from getting anywhere near the rim.

I hope he proves me wrong, I really do, but I don't see much else other than a spot up 3pt shooter.

I don't know, Bogdanovic has some physical tools that will help him. Here he is next to Bojan Bogdanovic who can play 3:

Broad shoulders and great length go a long way. He's got both going for him. And I doubt he's still the same weight he was when he was 18/19.

Haha I understand that it might not be sexy flat out scoring but I'm thinking on the other side of the ball too, which will be cool to watch what Joerger can do.
We could have a squad from now and next year that is selfish on the offensive end and hustles on D, and I get the feeling Joerger will now play the guys that give him the most on D.
Having said that we have to find the guy that takes over during stretches of games.
IMO we have a clutch player in Bogdanovic. We just need another closer type as well amongst other things.

Hey Kings fans, you might be pleasantly surprised by Buddy.

Pro tip: my retiree dad watches plenty of college hoops and pegged Buddy as the semi-under the radar college player that would turn into a very good pro. He picked Miles Turner as the can't miss player in the 2015 draft and Julius Randle in the 2014 draft. I like your chances.

I think the comparison of Buddy to Jodi Meeks is a poor one. I think Buddy is as good as Meeks ever was right now. I also think Vivek's Steph Curry statement is way off. Curry is not only best shooter ever, he has a great handle & is a play making PG, and good around basket. I heard a JJ Redick comparison. I think that is closer but I think Buddy will end up somewhere between Redick and Bradley Beal.
