I was wondering that too. After looking at others it seems most are going with the widescreen which looks really good. Also, is 4K much better? I honestly have no idea so if anyone knows more about video boards that would be great.

Yeah that scoreboard looks like a piece of ****. Hopefully they just did a horrible job with the rendering of the image.

Having a scoreboard with 100 percent screen on its surface area and no hard edges will make for some good potential for animated graphics that they can run before the game and during stoppages. My guess is that it will have some video graphics that make it look more like a standard scoreboard during play.

Jesus the scoreboard is more than 3/4 the size of the court.

EDIT: "The 24-display configuration featuring 3,922 square feet of video displays – enough to cover more than three-fourths of the basketball court below it – will be "literally almost twice the size" of the current scoreboard at the BMO Harris Bradley Center, Feigin said."

Idk, I guess I need to see it to have an opinion on it. That rendering looks wack - though I like that they have a screen underneath for fans sitting in the lower bowl.

I hate it when fans sit in my lower bowel.

I'm sorry. I'm a child.

I'm not going to complain about how crappy something is and how soon it will have to be replaced before I've actually seen it in person next year :)

Nevermind scoreboards. This is basically every draft/signing/player acquisition thread on this board.

It's just a mock up but that is very underwhelming. I was at the Amway Center for the Bucks game last month and their scoreboard looks way better than what we are potentially getting.

Also in this day and age no 4k? Widescreen I couldn't care less about since scoreboards are usually odd shapes and will all have custom video/graphics on them anyways but there is no excuse not to have this thing be 4k. I'll reserve final judgment until I see the finished product but that is underwhelming and this was one of the things I was most looking forward to personally.

Where does it say it isn't 4K?

They did the Target Center. Same 6mm line spacing too. Probably will look like a bigger version of this.

Answering my own questions, looks like the new Golden 1 will have a 4K board, costing $10 mil.

It's not as nice as the new Kings videoboard:
http://www.nba.com/kings/news/kings-reveal-huge-4k-video-board/
At a party given by a billionaire, Kurt Vonnegut informs Joseph Heller that their host had made more money in a single day than Heller had earned from his novel Catch-22.

Heller responds, “Yes, but I have something he will never have — ENOUGH.”

Looks much better seeing it like this as opposed to the rendering pic.

Was still hoping for a long widescreen display like some other arena's. HOU's is ridiculous.

They said in the video this set up will be around 10 mil and Feigin says something about "putting out like 4K video."
Also, the widescreen complaint is weird. It's like a giant canvas. It will easily be able to display stuff in a widescreen format.
