BTW - I missed this myself, but Woj said very casually on his pod yesterday that the Suns did not have much interest.

So who TF are the "two stars" the FO is chasing?

Probably, Butler and George... however would not be surprised if McD has someone else in his sights.

I think it was clear from the Valde interview that when the other offer was pulled it freaked them out and they scrambled to accept anything with a decent pulse.

We offered multiple players, our 2017 pick unprotected and either one or both Miami picks. Vlade then might have asked for Booker which is pure insanity and we pulled the offer.

Then Vlade panicked and accepted Hield/mid-first rounder because he knew Ranadive would delay trading Cousins until next season. Ranadive didn't think our offer was better than Hield/mid-first rounder. Pure comedy gold

Wrong. All of it imo. What makes you think the Kings accept it if that happens? The offer was already objectively better. The only reason Cousins isn't in a Suns uniform is due to the owner of the Kings having a man-crush on Nik Stauskas 2.0.

Vlade stated he had a better offer two days prior to the deal. It has since been rumored that offer was ours. If that was keeping Knight or adding a future first Suns should have put it back on the table.

Stars rarely move. This one had warts, and I get that, but with Bledsoe/Booker in place we had players Boogie has confidence in. We would still have had the assets to make more moves. Building through the draft is fine but it is hard to pull off and will many more years.

What will happen next:
1. NBA feels bad for Kings fans so they give them 2nd pick. Philly must get 1st so they don't swap.
2. Kings draft Malik Monk, Vivek is excited, say he is "Steph Curry 2.0".
3. Monk plays awfully and is traded in his rookie year.

The Kings are going to be like Brooklyn. Terrible team without drafts picks due to terrible trade.

I'm thinking that the better offer was from the Pelicans: 2 first rounders + Buddy. The Pelicans then pulled that offer when Boogie's agent tried to kill the deal. Divac panicked and the Pelicans revised their offer.

Damn, he really loved Sacramento. He's not a great role model by any means, but the kings didn't deserve DMC. I hope he does well with the pels.

That is indeed what it sounded like. Though I'm not sure we "pulled" any offer, more likely we refused to up our offer and he got butthurt. Like he did with the Lakers and Ingram.

I don't know. If the offer wasn't pulled then Vlade would be stupid to not accept what he himself termed "a better offer", or leverage the Suns offer to get more out of the Pels. The speed at which this happened leads me to believe there might be some truth to what he said about having a better offer then having it pulled.

It truly feels like the Kings were in a panic to get the trade done.

I don't see why the Suns would pull their offer unless Vlade demanded more from us. I mean even McD said we went after Cousins but didn't want to break up our young core.

Mostly rumored but I've also seen some writers saying it was the Suns offer that was pulled.

If its true and you read between the lines on what vlade said about agents messing that deal up it certainly could have been a case where cousins agent made it known to the suns he didn't want to come here. And if that was the case it was absolutely the right move to pull out. The last thing you want is a pouting cousins thats a recipe for disaster.

Its not that far fetched because even with the bledsoe connection the suns still have the second worst record in the league and have a bunch of really young dudes and boogie might want more immediate success.

I hadn't heard the report of Vlade saying agents messed it up. If that's true that would make a lot more sense why the Suns pulled their offer.

I don't agree with this in the slightest. The Suns offer was the best(again, depending on your view of the Drummond offer). There was zero reason to add even more incentive. If the Kings really viewed Knight as the deal breaker, then we could take him out and substitute Tucker. Or potentially a lotto protected 1st from us next year. Other than that, zero reason to add any more value.

And in no way do I feel like McD should be fired. Look how he has set us up. Outside of the Celtics, I'm not sure there is another team that can match the amount of assets we have at our disposal right now. On top of that we have a potential young stud in Booker, Warren who is starting to show signs of being a solid starter. Bledsoe who is having a career year. Ulis who looks like he could be similar to IT. While having a ton of cap space. He has really turned this teams situation around. And even if he has failed to bring a Superstar(which is hardly as easy as some on this forum like to make it sound), without him we wouldn't even be in the discussion for these players.

Blows my mind that people are even discussing firing him.

I've sort of started to think similarly. Doesn't seem like Divac would let slip that they had a better offer if it was from a different team. I could see Divac being upset and wanting to blurt out that Cousins' agents screwed him out of a defensible deal with the Pelicans. A 2019 first could be a very good asset if this ended up blowing up in the Pelicans faces. And it's not uncommon for that to happen as seen with BKN, LAL, Miami.

Knowing Demps, we probably offered the 2019 at some point.

Vivek has the worst eye for talent like how he had a massive hard on for Nick Stauskas. What has Buddy Hield shown so far that he can be the next Steph Curry?

Stauskas was supposed to be the next KlayThompson and he couldn't even be a poor mans version of Devin Booker.

Vlade, unsurprisingly, wanted Booker for Boogie:

“There was no way that we (could get) Jokic. I wanted him, but (Denver refused). I tried to get Booker in Phoenix, and Ingram from the Lakers but there was no chance. I wanted to start from the beginning and I think that’s for the best.”
