Tucker is a legit good defender. He's defended LeBron really well in the past. WOuldn't trade a 1st for a rental, but with EG who knows?

I like Tucker. Since he's worth at most a 2nd rounder and maybe EVEN less, he might be a good guy to add.

Hes not worth a first and won't coast one, probably nicholson and a second.
He would be our back up SG and if we get him this would mean that we would probably be committing to playing tomas at the point and benching burke. Cutting thornton as well.

I would also do
Nicholson a 2017 second and a protected 2018 first if they would make it Tucker and Chriss

Suns can get better from Toronto (seem desperate for bench help). We don't have the assets to get guys. My best bet is Tyreke if he's bought out.

You don't know what toronto is offering. They might not be willing to give up much, maybe sullenger, but at this point other than the expiring contract cap space which does them no good as bad as they are, is not better than a nicholson deal.

This is the ideal scenario IMO. He solves a lot of issues. He could play hybrid PG alongside either Sato or Burke (depending on whether we need shooting or defense). He'd also be extra depth at forward if either Oubre or Porter got hurt. He's another 6-7 guy with strength, who should be able to execute our switching scheme on defense. If he costs us nothing at all, what's not to like?

I might be open minded to trading Nicholson + Burke + 2018 first for Darren Collison just to get out of Nicholson's deal. That would shore up our bench nicely while addressing luxtax concerns:

PG Wall/Collison
SG Beal/Evans
SF Porter/Oubre
PF Morris/Oubre
C Gortat/Mahinmi

With Sato and Smith at the end of the bench able to give us some serviceable minutes.

Hmm, would Sac trade the Philly 2nd rounder (the one they just got)+Collison for Nicholson+our 2017 1st?

we'd drop about 10-15 slots in the draft, but we'd avoid the lux tax. Obviously I'd trade our 2nd for Collison, but the ability to get out of Nicholson's contract would be a boon.

or, we just keep our 1st, and flip burke and a 2nd for Collison and just play satoransky? we can get out of nicholsons deal at a later point.

i still don't see why we won't just dump Nicholson and our 2018 1st for Will Barton

Satoransky
Barton
Oubre
Otto/Keef
Mahinmi

would be a good bench

President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

Trade for T.J. Warren not P.J. Tucker.

Right team wrong player.

NatP4 wrote:Doesn't Ernie prove people wrong regularly at the trade deadline? Sessions, Morris, Miller were all good pickups that people complained about. It's crazy to think about the amount of hate he got for the Morris trade and now we have an all star caliber PF in exchange for a late lottery pick.

a) Morris is having a very good stretch, it's true. Best of his career. Not "all star caliber" nor near it -- but still really good, & I'm glad for him. But, sorry, that doesn't mean that overall he is as good as this last stretch -- let alone "all star caliber." Moreover, the Suns tried to trade him the entire season -- for... anything! Then Ernie Grunfeld showed up with a lottery pick to waste.

b) We traded for Miller in order to have someplace to hide the Vesely & Maynor mistakes. Denver would have waived Miller had we not showed up -- he'd had a shouting match and near fistfight w/ the coach. We also gave up a R2 pick in the deal.

c) Sessions was a good pick up. But, when you trade assets for someone, & then you let him go as a FA 18 months later, that is not a talented transaction. Btw, we were 33-21 when we traded for Sessions. We went 13-15 the rest of the season & 54-56 his whole time with us. Might not want to brag too hard for Ernie on that move, right?

Then again, you believe whatever you want Nat. I mean... what use are facts to a guy with a crystal ball?

7 months after Wizards sign IAN MAHINMI to a 4 year 64 million dollar deal, Brook Lopez, Andre Drummond, and DEMARCUS COUSINS become available. :noway:

Keef is putting up 19&8 on 50/40/90 shooting splits since Dec 1st and playing great defense in our switching scheme. all star numbers to me

Drummond is not a good rim protector.

He's a great rebounder & that's where it ends.
