If I am Magic Johnson, I am on the phone with BC right now attempting to give up Clarkson, Russell, or Ingram in exchange for the entire 17/18 pick back.

Hell, I'd even be giving both Russell and Ingram for the pick back and Okafor.

Lakers secure a top 3 pick this year and next year, to go along with Okafor...while they slowly get rid of bad contracts and trade Randle for more picks.

Draft Ball in 17, Porter in 18...Ball/Porter/Okafor core. Takes a while to rebuild and tear down that roster of garbage, so might as well pick a stud each year over the next 2 for when you're ready to compete.

For sixers you get exactly the 2 pieces you need around Simmons saric and embiid, and accelerate the process.

Of course, Magic is probably thinking he can get Steph Curry to come play with James Harden in LA one day, so he's not trading for picks lol

Hmm curious as to what was offered.

They didn't even cite the sources/report, did they?

Don't recall any report stating this.

Ingram all day, everyday, twice on Sunday.

Mik317 wrote:I think people think too much of the Lakers pick. Feels like we will get it next year after the Lakers decide to actually try to win (which now TBF could benefit us if Magic is bad at his new job) which makes it a lot lower in a worse draft. We could do a lot worse than Russell.
Well the Lakers actually pulled out all the stops to try to win last offseason--gave Mozgov $16m a year and Deng $18m (plus $12m for Clarkson).

And while there's always a chance they hit a homerun in FA, the team isn't really on the rise so FAs prob won't want to go there. Their young guys are okay but not great and there's nothing to suggest they'll be very good anytime soon. They also don't have that much cap space (maybe $30-35m if they pull out all the stops)--so they can't, say, sign a max player and another good starter or something. To top that off, they'll probably trade Lou Williams soon, and he's been by far their best player this year.

I think they'll head into next season a clear-cut bottom-5 team. Things can always change but they could also change for the worse--if they strike out in FA and no one makes a leap, there's a good chance they're the worst team in the league.

lol per my poll, most people didn't care much about the deadline anymore after the KANGZ implosion.

You guys are gonna get yourselves aaaaall worked up for these trade rumors and then when nothing goes down, this place is gonna be Chicago circa 1871.

I tried to read the article, which was pretty poorly written...but I didn't find any mention of Okafor offered for Cousins, but that Sacramento was interested in Okafor... I still think the writer got mixed up with NO after Okafor tho.

Probably clickbait, would die laughing tho if we somehow fleeced vlade/vivek again. I thought there was no way they could make another deal so lopsided, but i guess the swaps/2019pick didnt make as much news to be nationally rediculed such as this last one.

Me trying to be rationale says theres no way vlade/vivek can get bent over 1 more time, but i wouldnt be surprised in the least if theyd over pay for jah.

Okafor for removal of lakers top 3 protection this year.

Why sixers do it: guarantee ourselves a top 5 lakers pick in deep draft this year for a player who doesnt fit long-term.

Why lakers do it: 1) Lakers give up virtually nothing if they accept they will stink next year and will lose their pick. 2) Given Lakers foundational pieces play the same positions as the consensus top 3 picks, all else equal i think theyd rather have top pick in 2018.

If new lakers regime is committed to tanking next year (which they should if theyre smart) they do this deal. Not sure theyre that smart.

I guarantee Magic thinks the Lakers are making the playoffs next year.

Well Magic didnt take long.

Lou Williams to the Rockets for Corey Brewer and 1st rd pick.

Hey, maybe Magic isn't going to be awful. Getting a first round pick for Lou Will is not bad.

I'd take that 1st rounder and Clarkson for Okafor.

Like the deal for both teams. Thought one of the many contenders needing scoring off the bench would definitely give up their late 1st for Lou. Bet Washington was offering up theirs as well. Wont praise Magic just yet, but a decent first day on the job.

Houston seems to not know what they're doing. Why??
