Suddenly I'm not so sure if I actually want the pick to convey this year...

If Hinkie was still here, he'd have already traded a future second for MCW and than put together a package of Okafor+MCW to LA for the remove of this year's pick protection. This before Magic hires a legit GM. :D

People think Magic will lure big-time free agents. GMs don't lure free agents, great players do. You think Kevin Durant went to the Warriors because he was impressed with Bob Myers? They could've had Donald Trump as the GM and Durant would have went there.

Until the Lakers get that superstar, no big-time free agents will go there. Meanwhile, the Sixers will have Embiid, Simmons, Saric... Fultz/Jackson/Monk/Ball??? in every negotiating room. The Lakers will have Brandom Ingram.... who free agents won't even notice is in the room until he steps out from behind the floor lamp pole.

Its a joke if the lakers ownership really believes hes going to bring star players there. What the hell is in the water in california?

Now reports coming out that Pelinka and Tellem are candidates for gm role? Lmao might have to go to lakers board if that happens to hear the rationale behind these moves. I wonder if Phil Knight or (insert any agent or sports product owner) want the job.

Meanwhile the league is laughing.

Jeannie Buss is delusional. She's basically the Cersei Lannister of the Lakers. After daddy died, it's only a matter of time before everything comes crashing down.

How much cap space do the Lakers have? Can they sign a good free agent this offseason? I hope they can't.

We have only space for one max player... we probably won't sign anyone to that max tho...

If we don't get the pick then do us a favor and don't make any move s in the offseason. I don't even want a marginally good player addition. Deal?

I wont make any promises, but knowing my lakers, we won't get a good player even if we tried!!! so you have nothing to worry about!

The Lakers plan on using Pelinka's connections as an agent to recruit FA's. In the meeting, Pelinka pitches the target like an agent while Magic sits in the corner smiling and talking about the Showtime days and they run videos of the beaches and the "scenery" in LA and Jeannie Buss comes out in her old Laker girl outfit.

I know people say the league is better when the Lakers are doing well, but I personally enjoy seeing them and their mostly casual fans suffer. I wonder how Luke feels about this abrupt turn towards tanking with the Lou trade.

Looks like, if they slice off Swaggy as expected, they'll have about $25m. Maybe could get another couple mill by stretching someone. Though if they keep their top-3 pick, that'll take about $5m more from them.

In other words, it's enough to sign one big-name guy or a couple of meh starters. Whatever happens in FA, they'll be bad unless one of the young guys makes a big leap.
