Lowry/Ibaka will put them well into the luxury tax, so they can't sign any free agents unless it's with the MLE
Unless Miles Bridges drops to 21-23, I can't see us drafting anyone except Justin Jackson or Jaron Blossomgame (he'd be a reach at 21-23 though so I'm not too sure about that pick)
I guess Raps could go BPA if they have a plan to trade for a back-up SF, but given the cap situation they'd probably rather fill that need with a rookie scale contract.
TL:DR - If I had to bet money on who the Raptors will draft, I'd feel the safest with Justin Jackson
He's the easiest fit and is a safe pick. Unless someone falls to us unexpectedly I which case I hope Masai would take them and run (don't want another Rodney Hood situation).
TJ Leaf could also make sense if Masai and Weltman can't keep Patterson for cap reasons, though I think JV, Cojo and Carroll(if anyone would take them) are more likely to go.

He has good size, length, strength, athleticism, shooting, defense and aggressiveness. His skillset is not all that different from OG Anunoby who everyone loves.
Literally talked about him one page back. He's a good one although they're ruining his game by playing him at the 4. These college coaches are more worried about their jobs than these kids futures. If Ojeleye played the 3 he'd be ranked in the top-20 imo, but I guess that just works out better for us in the long run if Masai notices him.
I'm sorry but this is a bizarre statement. College coaches try to win games. They get new talented kids coming in every year. It's constant adjusting for the coaches to find the way their team is most effective. If Ojeleye's coach thinks the team wins more games with him at the 4, then that's perfectly reasonable. Showcasing kids for the scouts is not in their job description.
It's not bizarre at all if you think about it. These coaches recruit by telling these kids they'll get them to the pros and drafted as high as possible. This kid is CLEARLY a 3, and while the coach wants to win games it wouldn't hurt future recruiting (aka winning) to showcase guys at their best positions.
I know if I were a recruit and a coach was known to play guys out of position I'd take it as a negative. And if other guys think like me then it hurts future recruiting, which hurts future winning.

Haven't seen him play to be honest. Where's he ranked in mock drafts?

Not even on the board in mock drafts.
His numbers are okay, but considering the competition level of his opponents it's pedestrian. Isn't UIC a Division II school? If it's Division I it's definitely in a weak conference.
Pascal Siakam put up godly numbers against weak competition and you can see the jump from that to the NBA is massive.

Anyone know if Lydon is actually quick/athletic enough to defend small forward in the NBA?
I think he's definitely gotta be on our shortlist if he can play both forward spots. We've needed a guy that can do that and shoot forever.
Lydon
Leaf
Jackson
I'd still take Melton over any of these guys, but mocks have him coming out next year. Maybe he's already implied he'll return for his sophomore year.

Maybe add him to the list of guys who could always be signed as a free agent or put on the 905 then.

I'm looking at the NCAA stat leaders and Ben Lammers, a junior center at Georgia Tech, is second in blocks with 3.4 a game. He also made a huge jump offensively and in rebounding this year. Could be raw, but the drastic improvement in production/role should at least get him talked about a little.

Brooks? He can flat out score. We might be able to get him with our late 2nd rounder, or even sign him outright. Teams will stay away due to his extremely low wingspan(it's actually shorter than his height I believe, which is below average among the general population.)

I'm warming up to the idea of Swanigan. He'll struggle on defense, but he seems to do everything right on offense. He's also the best rebounder in the draft.
My board(going by who appears will be available at our pick) is:
Leaf
Lydon
Jackson
Pasecniks
Swanigan is the consolation prize to me at the moment.
I'm also hoping a guy like Oliver, or Blossomgame falls all the way to our 2nd round pick.

I want Masai to draft or trade up for one fantastic prospect. He's done practically everything else that could be done given what he had to work with when he arrived.
He's dropped dead weight, given the right point guard the clear cut role of leader, bolstered the bench, added a starting power forward and added young depth for the future without losing any picks.
It's time to draft a Draymond, Kawhi, Ginobli, Arenas, Thomas etc.

I'm much later to this draft discussion than I usually have been in past years but seeing as we're keeping this pick for sure, at least until the end of the sesaon, I think we should be looking at Leaf and Jackson as our primary targets.
Both project to be low-risk high reward players that might could at least crack an NBA rotation. Jackson plays a position of need (Tucker insurance) and Leaf would be a good prospect (Patterson insurance).

Leaf gets a lot of discussion here and Jackson is kind of assumed to be one of the targets given his being a small forward. I'm fine with either. I also like Lydon, who looks like Ryan Anderson and apparently can play both forward positions. Those are all the safe picks to me at forward, given our likely draft position.
I also like Pasecniks as a draft and stash with very, very high upside. A 7'2 big who can block shots, hit the 3 and rebound at an okay clip is extremely intriguing. We could wait to bring him over, which is always good when cap space is at a premium and if he or Poeltl could ever play power forward, we might have one of the most unique frontcourts in the league a few years down the line.
