I kind of hate to see people pop in to say KD. The Dubs are +7.5 pts/100 with him OFF the floor. I mean that would be the second best team in the NBA (to Spurs). I don't think there is an argument to make there. I don't even think he is particularly close to making the All NBA 1st team (<LBJ and Kawhi).

Take ANYONE off the Warriors and they are a 60 win team... KD might be the best offensive player in the league but he isn't the MVP.

I also have a hard time giving it to anyone who isn't at least top 4 in their conference... Historically its incredibly rare for a player to be in the 7th or 8th seed or out of the playoffs and win MVP so I still just can't see Westbrook winning it. I still see the Celtics rising to first place, and Isiah Thomas winning the scoring title and MVP.

I agree that this may be true, fair or not. I think a lot of voters try and imagine the team performing WITHOUT that player (how much better or worse they would be without them) and the Warriors just seem so good that losing either of doesn't feel like it would be a huge deal for them. I believe many voters would surmise the Warriors still at worst finish with 60+ wins. I think this will hurt both of them beyond this year as long as that roster is so strong. I think Harden will win if they stay where they are in the conference standings.

If they finish strong without Love and also still without JR Smith, he should in my opinion be in the conversation, especially if he keeps up his play this month, which has been fantastic frankly.

And quite frankly I don't feel either of them should ever win another mvp unless the other one is injured

If the spurs really only have 1 allstar on the team. And with their record. That makes kawhi by default the mvp!

If you combine the "best player on a championship level team" with "most valuable as in your team would suck without him", then yes Kawhi is the runaway winner lol.

But its usually "best player on contending team" with "the best stats/narrative", and thats where Harden might have Kawhi beat.

I'd vote Kawhi MVP just in the hopes to actually see Pop shed a tear of happiness.

And, yes, he does indeed deserve heavy MVP consideration.

John Wall has been an absolute beast on offense and defense. He is best finder of corner threes in the league. His just dominating teams right now.

Still up in the air IMO. I want LeBron to win it again to really creep in that GOAT conversation. Team record will be like the most important factor as always with Cleveland, Houston, Spurs as the biggest players.

Harden still got it as of now. Those couple of 50/10/10s are still fresh on people's minds and if it's still close among the 3 teams, Harden's the sure winner.

For me right now until Westbrook gets below 10 assists. He deserves it based on the mediocre supporting cast & triple-double.

Post-ASG LeBron is better than pre. I say he chases down the MVP.

Plus advanced stats suggest LeBron to be the least-rewarded player for MVP as he's had 4 seasons that put him as the best player in the season while the award went to others. I think that may be a factor with the performance in last years finals accounted for.

If the award was based on VORP or RPM then LeBron would have the most MVPs in history with 8 followed by MJ and Kareem on 7.

I'd vote harden at this point. Those numbers and the huge turnaround both point to him getting this award.

While he isn't the best NBA player he is perfect for that system and makes it go.
