GT: Spurs vs. Clippers

Post#1 » by Nolan » Tue Feb 21, 2017 3:28 pm

When: 8:30 PM MT, Feb. 24th 2017
Where: Staples Center, Los Angeles CA

This will be our first game back from the All-Star break but for the Clippers this will be the 2nd night of a back to back with the Warriors being their opponent in the first game. So hopefully Steph and company wear them down a bit for us.

The key to this one is going to be execution. We have to shake off the rust early and play a solid cohesive energetic two way game. Everyone needs to be engaged and ready to play at full speed.

Go Spurs!!

Looking like no Chris Paul. Should be an easy win for us, but we do have a nasty habit of making the Clippers bench look like the best in the league. Speaking of Chris Paul, he has a player option this summer. If the Clippers go down like the Hindenburg this offseason, how do you all feel about chasing him this off-season? I think he'd have Dedmon looking Deandre Jordan.

Edit* - Well I jinxed it. Apparently CP3 is in the process of opting out and signing a $200 million extension with LAC.

Well, they got no Chris Paul for the game. And it will be the second game of a back to back for the Clips, but with the 1 week rest, it wouldn't matter.

We should have Pau Gasol back too, either Friday or Sunday. I'm looking forward to this match

I'm tired of seeing the Clippers jail-sex us. Hopefully we start this final run off well.

As far as CP3 is concerned, I think he is on the wrong side of his career hill. No way I'd pay max for a player with that many miles. Thats something the Knicks would do....

Well, I suppose the pipe has burst on the CP3 pipe-dream: Chris Paul has already verbally agreed to re-sign with the Clippers

For a team of mainly vets and reliable players we sure turn the ball over a lot.

Really love seeing Pau back out there. Nice and rested and ready to rock the rest of the season.

why does lma every time he touches the ball settles for a jumpshot when NOBODY is inside ready to crash the boards...there should always be at leasts 1 person inside to crash the board...

pop putting kl on cp3 from tip off...why? 5 easy fouls he gave away

Yeah, that frustrates me, too. The big issue with it (apart from the obvious tactical mistake of shooting without rebounders) is the mindset it betrays: an overconfident jump-shooter ('why wait for rebounders if it's going in?'), which is basketball poison.

Happy with the win, though, and though I didn't get to see much of the game, Pau looked fresh in what I saw and he had a good line.

Ugly game, I really thought we were done after Kawhi got his 5th foul but we gutted it out and salvaged a win.

Way too many turnovers and the spacing and movement on the offensive end were just sad

The good:
- Pau - Looked fresh, made some great plays on both ends and was lights out from beyond the arc. He really put us over the top in this one. Also I really like him coming off the bench.

- Dedmon - Played some amazing defense on Jordan and off the ball, was an animal on the glass, and he set some good screens. I ****ing love this dude, as far as i'm concerned the starting center spot is his too lose at this point.

- Manu - The box score doesn't fully reflect his impact. Tonight he did exactly what we needed him to do; made big plays when we needed them and played like the savy vet he is.

- The PG's - Both Tony and Patty were solid in this one. Tony looked fresh and late in the game he really got the best of CP3. As for Patty he hit some tough shots and gave us some much needed scoring.

The Bad:
- Kawhi - Not his best game. He did finish with 21 and he did make some nice plays but he was really out of sync on the offensive end, missed some rotations on the defensive end and that 5th foul was really unnecessary and it put us in a really tough spot.

- LMA - Like Kawhi he had his moments but when Kawhi picked up his fifth foul LMA disappeared. Also he settled for his jumper way too often, would of really liked to see him work over Blake in the post.

A homeless man David Robinson. Actually, don't even say that, because it's an insult to the Admiral. If he can just be Nazr Mohammed or Oberto long-term, great news. I personally think he's going to stay as well because he knows the Spurs will help him reach his full potential.

he plays great D,run the floor very well.hv the quickness can stay with Point Graud,if he can develope consistent jump shot,I dun see why he can't be a poor man Admiral for the new Spurs, and you really throught Oberto or Nazr has the athlectism that Dedmon ever been ?????????

I just don't like using these two guys in the same sentence. Dedmon has had a nice stretch of games. I need years of doing this before I automatically say he can do that. That was also Chris Paul's first game back after missing weeks. Dedmon does not do this every single night and you know it. I wish he did, but he's a long ways from that.

Comparing Dedmon to one of the best players to ever play the game truly is an insult to Robinson.

I could explain why but I thought it would be obvious...
