Poll - Trade for a "Star"
Figured we seem to have two camps on this idea so curious how many believe in each philosophy. Also it might be better to have the overall discussion on this philosophy in this thread instead of high jacking the trade thread.
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming Wow! What a Ride!-H.S.T.

Cousins was the star they should have traded for, but the Kings don't operate under logic so it couldn't happen. *shrugs*
Butler wouldn't improve this team enough to justify the cost and Paul George would almost certainly leave for greener pastures.

It's a complete longshot, but we may have enough assets for both.
I put a Booker/Butler/George/Gibson/Chandler lineup together that would have capspace this summer to go after an additional piece. Definite longshot, but as long as there is a chance you go for it. Bledsoe, Knight, Bender, Chriss, Warren, and the bundle of picks for the next 3 years is what I have going out. We keep our vets to be our bench and to provide stability.

Re: Poll - Trade for a "Star"
So that Amare bit in the "How NBA Trades go down" thread, I feel like could easily be what the Pelicans just did. I really don't see how they see Cousins/Davis as a long term plan when they both play similar enough styles.
Imagine us offering Pelicans the same package as we did to the Kings...
Warren/Len/Knight 2017 1st. Tell me... does that not put better pieces around Davis?
Look at their starting 5 after that...
Holiday/Knight/Warren/Davis/Len
Uh... I see it being way more balanced, because I have no clue who is the starting 2 and 3 for the Pels right now.

I'd like to acquire a star for some excitement and wins. However I know the second option is the ideal way to rebuild. So I'm OK for both.

Re: Poll - Trade for a "Star"
Trading for a star right now don't make any sense for Suns. They have one borderline all-star player in his prime in Bledsoe. Then they have super young players who are talented but few years form their primes. Then they have old regressing veterans veterans.
Even if you bring a star player here do you really think that this star and Bledsoe is enough to contend? Booker is very good for 20 years old but this don't means he could be 3rd best player on a good team right now.
Indiana and Atlanta are about 50% W/L teams in the lesser conf but some posters think that getting PG or Butler would give Suns a chance against Warriors
Trading for star player makes a lot of sense for Celtics. It makes a little sense for Suns.
Trade Chandler, PJ and Barbosa (and Knight if somebody wants him). On draft day trade Bledsoe for another top 10 pick. Get exciting team of talented 20-24 years old players with Dudley mentoring them. Much better plan imo.

I'm team #youthmovement for the next 1-2 years. We don't have the pieces to land a star and jump right into contending. Our younger players still need a couple years to develop before we can make a push. If we add a star today our youth would be a hindrance until they can pull their weight.

As of now, stay the course. But it really would depend on what we'd have to give up.
