Latest rumors from Jeff Goodman and Romona Shelbourne have the Pacers and 76ers discussing a deal for Okafor.

I'd go for it. If we can turn our next year's first rounder into a former lottery pick from the same draft as Turner, then I say do it. It gets us younger, and if it got rid of Al Jefferson I'd be even more satisfied.

I like it to and I think as the price for Okafor has dropped Larry can talk them into taking a bad contract for Ja.

Thanks for starting a new thread. I'd posted a message in the off season thread, but I'll move it here.

I'm not sure we have bad contracts with the cap going up so dramatically. Okafor is on a rookie deal so we don't need to eliminate a lot of salary to keep out of tax land.

I think that makes us too slow defensively. I don't see that being the move after PG was bitching about us not being able to guard spread teams. I think it gives us the ability to play smash mouth. But I see the move where Jah would be more like an Enes Kanter off the bench but play big minutes. Nate can mess with the rotations depending on matchups. Spread teams and Myles and Okafor don't play much together. Smash mouth teams they can and thad plays a little less and maybe plays some 3 depending on who that is. For instance Myles guarding a Markeiff Morris for a whole game is a bad deal for us.

The cap is only going up 6-8 mil next year and should be close to the same the year after. We don't need the salary relief, but to give up a 1 I would like to see us get rid of a contract to open up more $$ for free agency this off season. Remember if we want to keep Teague his salary is going to damn near triple.

That is indeed the question. Vogel used to try and force the opponent to match up. Now we're trying to match down. One could argue that we're stuck in the middle.

I like the idea of getting Okafor. He would complement Myles well in terms of being able to pass and score on the block allowing Myles to step away and be a spacer. I believe with a couple offseasons of work with a big man coach Okafor will improve his rebounding, defense and will likely add a mid range jump shot. The immediate impact would be teams struggling to defend Okafor because of Myles ability to shoot. And obviously no one can afford to play zone with the CJ, Paul and Jeff all being able to shoot the ball.

I'm not convinced Turner and Okafer could play together and if they can't I'm not sure this is a good idea.

I am really hoping for a starting SG as opposed to a center. Any big man trade has to include Thad leaving IMO. Too much of a log jam and don't think he can play the 3.

I'm comfortable with GRob as the long term answer at 2 and of course PG can play there too if we pickup a 3 who is better than GRob for now.

I'm totally cool with grabbing a young 5. I've never been completely sold on Turner being a pure 5 and not a 4-5 in the vein of Davis or Ibaka.

No-one has posted the Brook Lopez rumor. I really don't like the idea of trading Al Jefferson so that deal is not my favorite. If you can get Okafor for Stuckey and a pick go for it.

I read the Bob Kravitz tweet about him being told it's not happening before I ever heard the rumor.

Al Jefferson was possibly my least favorite signing in a long time, so I wouldn't be sad if it did happen.

Woj just dropped a bomb. Pacers working the trade front under 2 scenarios. One to bring in talent to convince PG to resign. The other is trading PG and building around Turner.

Would love to see what we could do with Okafor alongside Turner.

If we trade PG13 like Sac did Boogie, I don't think I'll be able to continue watching this team.

ESPN report potential targets of Afflalo, Crabbe, and Ed Davis.

I don't believe those 2 can play together against a lot of teams.
