RealGM is funnay. People complain we need x y and z to compete or that we are wasting Lowry and DeRozan's prime years with "wasted" roster spots full of projects. Then FINALLY Masai makes a splash at the deadline and we can't enjoy the ride and worry who to keep in the offseason? This is the deepest team in Raptor history!

Masai will make it work this offseason.

Caboclo wrote:Bro lmfaoo so many things wrong with ur post i cant believe ur trying to call me out
1) lowry's supermax is 212/5years, thats why i put 35-42 as a range in my post. 35 would be the slight discounted price.
2) U actually think MLSE will pay in excess of 20m annually in luxury tax penalties? i said maybe they finally take the plunge and pay 5-15m....but 20m+? LOL im speechless....
3) Tucker damn sure is getting at least 13m in this market  A beefy veteran 3+D guy? Ur right hes prob not getting 13, prob more like a 15-17m offer from the nets/lakers. Look at the contracts recently signed by worse swingmen
4) Ofc its easier to trade ross's contract. everybody and their mother can agree ross's deal is a bargain esp. given the duration. While Cojo's regressed into flaming garbage this year....ur definately not getting a (first round) pick for that lmao

U must have a sub-zero understanding of this team then...

I never said outright they would pay 20 million in tax, you're the one claiming they won't do it with no understanding of who owns the team. You lump MLSE in to your commentary as if it's the same group it's been for 17 years. You're lack of knowledge on this is what's showing that you have no idea.

Tucker is a 32 year old undersized utility player, if you think someone is going to pay 17 million for that you really don't know what's going on. He's a valuable guy, one that will garner a lot of interest but the guys that got paid last summer were more of the younger players that were hitting free agency, not guys like Tucker. Could he absolutely get that on the market? Sure some team can go all stupid and pay him. Good for them, that doesn't mean we will and screw our situation further and tax so it has no bearing on your original point about taxes. We're not paying him 13 or 17 million.

Lowry was getting the supermax regardless of anything we did at the deadline, so we were already going to be a tax team with him and Patterson. What does any of this have to do with the options in front of us. If the team flames out for whatever reason, Ibaka, Patterson and Tucker may all be gone and the youth will be incorporated more. If the team is successful we can make a ton of different moves to keep some of the core together and move out other pieces to manage our salary situation.

Keep going with your ill-informed posts and screaming for the sake of screaming.

As long as Lebron is LeBron and GS has 4 hall of famers, you can argue that 28 teams are on the treadmill. Should the other 28 teams tank?

lol the people who said mortgaging our 'future' for rental players in Tucker+Ibaka are also still here. Maybe the two groups haven't changed their opinions?

TANK WARS!

28 teams compete for the vaulted first prize, the chance to pick first over all.

There can only be one!

We still have,

Wright
Powell
Poeltl
Siakam
2017 first
2018 first
Joseph
JV
Bebe

With a core of Lowry, Derozan, Ibaka and Carroll (probably because he isn't going anywhere).

Things aren't doom and gloom.

Yeah. We haven't mortgaged the future and I think that if we do decline into a .500 team in year 3 or 4 of the Lowry/Ibaka/Patterson deals (I think Bebe and Poeltl have shown enough that we deal JV rather than lose Patterson. Especially since Ibaka will play more 5 as he ages) we will be able to trade them for mid to late 1sts quite easily, since they can all hit 3s and play some D and are thus logical acquisitions for a contender like Korver and others were this summer.

I think the plan will be to contend for 3-4 years and if we regress, then blow it up. Until then, we're a LeBron injury and a Curry or KD injury away from being in a 9 team title **** with the other 3 good east teams and the 5 actually very good West ones.
Where's the D?

I'm generally a pro tank Hinkie lover but even if we want to tank, we're best off bringing everyone except maybe Ibaka back and competing for a few years. Guys like Mozgov, Deng, Crabbe, Evan Turner, Chandler Parsons, Joakim Noah have 3 years left after this one and if we trade Lowry or Patterson in 2 years (after 3 more playoff runs for us!) for one, we'll still likely get a first along with those awful expirings and can start the tank from a better position.

Contend for the 2017, 2018 and 2019 titles, then tank and sell off assets as Lowry will be old but still useful.

Certainly we are not basing our 'future' on Terrance Ross, a late 1st rounder and 2 future second round picks, right? I feel everything we gave up has been and would have been completely expendable. You may also be very right in saying Ibaka and Tucker are rentals (which they most certainly may be) but for ONCE in the existence of Raptor history we have a deep team while still recouping some draft picks for our future

But you are right Throwback, can't please everyone. I feel like even if we got PG13 or Butler we would still hear the same murmurs of "WE RUINED OUR FUTURE" so on and so fourth

Just had to vent (:

Hard to believe people are still unsatisfied with our team that has everything sans superstar. We have stars, depth everywhere, young talent, picks.... we are really only lacking an MVP that realistically, only a few teams are lucky enough to have.

I am more than happy to make it to the ECF and have another crack at the champs and the best player in the world, who knows maybe our depth will eventually pay off. Last year was a fun ride, let's hope this year is too.

I think about 50 percent of us that were pro tank are happy with the way things are after the deadline. I mean sure we could have blown it up to try to take a shot at drafting Ayton or one of the other top guys in 2018, but our next time to think about tanking now should be when RJ Barret enters the draft in 2020. I think we all would llke to have a local kid as our star. But until then, let the good times roll and see y'all in the ECF.

off topic but man..
I know ArJigga (this name is proof) personally from some camps i helped at, its so awkward seeing y'all talk about tanking for him. He was so average.

We stilk have powell, delon, Poeltl and our first pick. Also i am sure Masai will be able to make moves to create space for Ibaka and lowry.

He also has assets like Cojo, Bebe, Siakim and Val who he can trade if he wants to.
