Cat Barber

Post#1 » by Chapelchilla » Fri Feb 24, 2017 3:43 pm

I have been touting Cat since the draft so I admit I am biased here but shouldn't this guy be on the Hornets not the Swarm?

38 pts! Isn't he better then Brian Roberts already? Fast, busts 3's, penetrates, lead the freakin ACC in scoring. Give the dude a chance, we suck anyway.

Doesn't matter if hes better than Roberts. Roberts is a vet who knows the system, so hes going to be Cliffords guy no matter how bad he sucks. Its frustrating, but thats how our coach rolls.

Yeah, hes eventually gonna be an nba player. He had a nice stroke from the college line.

He just needed a year to adapt.

We really should sign this guy already.

I know that you are right but damn, he is exactly what we wanted from Sessions but didn't get! A guy who can push the pace, create offense, stretch the floor and cut to the basket. Get him some NBA experience this year and sign him up on a cheap 2-3 year deal ASAP. We need a cheap sparkplug type badly.

I'd like the team to give Cat a look. Roberts has been awful. I know Cliff likes to know what to expect from a player, but there's now plenty of evidence that Roberts helps the team lose. And I like that Cat will fire up 3s.

Cat seems to be the type of guard to check many boxes that we should be looking for right now. He's got some size at 6'2". If he can add some muscle, he might eventually have some combo guard opportunities. He can score. He did it in college, he's doing it in Dleague. Scoring seems to be in his DNA. Give him a 10-day in place of McCallum. Then if the coaches like his work ethic and character, sign him to one of those sneaky 2 year deals with the 2nd year unguaranteed.

I don't watch college hoops, even in our own state, so somebody chime in with his flaws and red flags. Where my State fans at?

Pack alum here. He didnt have flaws in college he was sick last year.

Hes as quick as they come and can finish at the rim. Good 3 pt shooter with a nice midrange shot he can get at anytime. He didnt have nba range in college i dont think so its taking some time to adjust.

Not an excellent defender due to size but he can get steals and disrupt passing lanes

He can be a streaky shooter, didn't have NBA range in college like RiceaRoni said. He won't wow you with floor vision but he's tidy with the ball and a decent set-up guy in traffic b/c he can shred his way through the lane with his quickness (literally one of the quickest guys with the ball I've seen) and handles. He has decent height but he's light and gets stuck on screens a lot.

He's very much a poor man's Kemba which would undoubtedly be a better backup PG than anything we've got right now.

the thing is Goodwin can't shoot, if you watch his D League games he'll score a lot of points driving through lax defenses, but he's shooting 21% from 3 and that's a fair representation, and think of him as a point guard in nominal terms only if he plays there its not because he's a playmaker but because he's a shooting guard who can't shoot

I'd rather give Cat a try

Goodwin is crap. Even Phoenix fans who liked his highlights will tell you he just isn't a good player.

Just by the reading on DraftExpress and a few other places I would see his weaknesses as
* Volume shooter who isn't super efficient.
* Turners are a bit high given low assist rate.
* 3 point range was a bit suspect in college but he seems to be adjusting
* His teams tend to under-perform. It's not clear if this is his fault or not.

Player comp is poor man's Iverson.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody
