Divac interview

Post#1 » by City of Trees » Sun Feb 26, 2017 3:14 am

Vlade Divac sat down with Ailene from the Sacramento Bee to discuss the trade and waiving Matt Barnes. Divac reveals new information regarding DeMarcus Cousins and Cousins agents. At the end Divac drops a huge nugget!

Ailene? That's so transparent. She's not gonna throw anything but softballs.

I was unaware the NBA flew out Keke to speak with DeMarcus before he picked up his 16th tech. The fact it didn't go well is interesting because if i recall wasn't that around the time DeMarcus started pouting "I can't be myself"

Excellent response by Vlade IMO and at the very least he is bang on about the culture, we all knew it was crap, but after they started preaching it when Vlade was hired it was all talk, now it will be actions!

I think people need to realize that there weren't any better offers. Boston wasn't in play, and by the sounds of it, that PHX offer had all but dried up, especially after DMC's agents sabotaging potential deals. I believe Vlade is right. We'll be in a much better place in 2 yrs.

So Cousins' got so toxic that the NBA intervened at one point, and intentionally had his agents sabotage any effort to trade him for anything of value.

That's really sick.

I'm glad Vlade provided a timeline of how everything unfolded.

1. Vlade shops Boogie

2. Gets **** offers

3. Waits for better offer

4. Better offer never surfaces

5. Takes Cousins off the market

6. Tells Cousins he will not be traded

7. Gets better offer

8. Informs Cousins agent

9. Cousins agent attempts to kill said offer

10. Vlade cuts his loses and does lower deal

So.... I owe Vlade an apology...

What did she not ask him?

What were the hard questions you would have asked or was it just that she didn't calling him names like the twitter tough guys?

Just look at how hard Ailene defends Vlade in her questions. That's what makes it a softball interview. A fair interview would require Vlade to throw Cousins under the bus himself. It would require Vlade to say stuff like "Yes, DeMarcus Cousins was a thug who needed to be policed." Instead, Ailene does it for him so that he can come out as clean as possible.

By the way, it's not a surprise that Ailene did that. Everyone knows she hates Cousins. That's why she was chosen for the interview, and a weak move like that is precisely why Cousins called Vlade a coward.

But I believe we are going to be in a better position in two years. I want to hear again from these same people in two years. If I’m right, great. If I’m wrong, I’ll step down. But if I go down, I’m going down my way.

Let's see hoping that we are better in two years.
Celtics fan.
We also face the Kings twice in the near future. I think it's time Yabu pays back some of that free money he's been given his entire career and bounces Fox for a nice 2 week ankle sprain.

Here is a link to another Divac interview, this time in the European market.

Divac:
“There was no way that we (could get) Jokic. I wanted him, but (Denver refused). I tried to get Booker in Phoenix, and Ingram from the Lakers but there was no chance. I wanted to start from the beginning and I think that’s for the best.”

http://bsndenver.com/vlade-divac-says-nuggets-turned-down-a-demarcus-cousins-nikola-jokic-swap/

So maybe the narrative "Vivek wanted Buddy" is a bit overblown?

That's a very bias view of the interview. She may not like Cousins but she didn't let Vlade skip any area of the situation, nor did she throw Cousin under the Bus. Even saying that she should have "allowed Vlade to throw him under the bus himself" shows your bias.

The point of the interview was to clarify the timeline and Vlade thinking, not bad mouth Cousins. The facts do that to DMC and his agents all by themselves. She put out info many didn't know and went back to thinks a few times to make Vlade answer key questions that have troubled many fans. The last statements forced Vlade to take the responsibility or to put it on DMC's faults. Vlade stepped up.

Hate on Hater!
