Will we be even less competitive without Bogs? Or perhaps better? Are Nicholson and McDaniels guys that can prove they can stay in this league, and possibly earn themselves a spot in the rotation? Then you have Lin's recovery, where it'll be a very good thing if he gets through the rest of the season without hurting himself again. Despite our lack of competitiveness in games, there are reasons to continue tuning into Nets games.
I predict that we'll play better, but insignifcantly. With an actual point guard, we'll commit less turnovers and hopefully take less poor shots (but that's also partially dependent on Kenny continuing to run his offense). If McDaniels' takes Kilpatrick's minutes, I'd expect him to better fulfill the role as the chucker, considering that Kilpatrick's ball handling is not NBA level (which is alarming for a guy in his late 20s). Lopez will continue his good scoring/poor rebounding. Will also be keeping an eye on the development of guys like Dinwiddie, Whitehead, RHJ, and LeVert.
I say we finish 23-59. We beat the Bulls in Chicago in the final game of the year to avoid 60 losses; we also knock the Bulls out of the playoffs which in turn causes them to blow it up in the off-season.

We finish 23-59, meaning we win 14 out of our remaining 25 games? I'm going to say that's waaaay too optimistic. Sure it'll be nice having Acy back and maybe our two new acquisitions can contribute, but we're still lacking so much in talent in comparison to any team on cusp of making the playoffs. And this just happens to be one of those special years where you've got 10 or 11 teams vying for an 8th seed.

In other words, we're roughly win 6 games, finishing at 15 wins for the season.
Best case scenario, we somehow click as a team in a way we never have throughout the entire season and are able to overcome the lack of pick and roll defense while Lopez is on the floor. We win 75% of our 50/50 match ups and steal a couple of auto-losses to playoff teams. We finish the season 20 or so wins.

Re: Now that the trade deadline has passed, what's your prediction for the rest of the season?
It probably is a bit too optimistic. But we did start off 4-5 in the beginning of the season so I think we could surprise a few people. It won't change the fact that we're the clear cut worst team in the NBA. Basically, if our team has the will to be competitive and win a few games, I can see it happening; but I still think that a lot of the players are continuing to play for themselves, especially Kilpatrick.

lol
listen, if we even get past 11 wins it will be a miracle, especially with how horrible the team looked last night.

I pray we win 13 games.
Some things id like to see during the rest of the season includes us giving KJ a good amount of PT. He showed talent in Philly, but was buried on the bench in Houston. I wanna see a few lineups consisting of LeVert/KJ/RHJ. They can wreck havoc on the passing lanes and throw it down on the fast break. Between LeVert, KJ, RHJ, and Acy, there's potential for a lot of flashy dunks. If we're gonna lose, might as well do it with style and make it exciting. So I hope we see some cool dunks. Finally, I'd like to see Scola get cut, and grab another DLeaguer. With Bogs gone, id love to find another 3 point shooter. Maybe a 3&D guy like Anthony Brown.

I think KJ will play, but he needs to get the practice time in and right now we're on a horrible road trip so the practice hours may not just be there.
Regardless, Kenny also needs to start benching guys who aren't playing defense. It's about that time now.

A one-game winning streak here and there would be nice.

i think we finish with 6 or 7 more wins putting us at 15 or 16 wins on the year. avoiding 70 losses. or at least thats my hope.
finsihing 14-11 the rest of the way seems a bit optomistic. but anything is possible once teams start tanking the last month i guess so i wont crap on that prediction
really i just want to avoid 70 losses

Sounds about right. I think we are projected to win 17? I'm confident that we'll win 4 more games, which is what we need to avoid 70.

We'll considering that we haven't won 2 games in a row, I don't see how the team is going 500. SMH
You think he is being condescending but I think people are tired of these unrealistic declarations in which you are inferring Lin makes us a 500/winning team.

Even that might be hopeful. Losing Bogs and his ability to score is going to be tough to overcome. It's not like we improved that much defensively buy taking him out. 3 to 5 is what I expect.

This thread is for predictions, not to attack the main poster based on what you feel about their prediction.
It [the prediction] was ill-advised that's for sure, no excuse, and there is some shame in not thinking it through.
With that said, it's still condescending and I particularly have issue with that because it's the type of attitude that people have online but would never have the guts to act like that to another person's face. So what's your prediction?

Unless Lopez gets hurt, we will not lose 70 games as you're inferring here. You call me out for being too optimistic, and you were right but you don't see me calling you out like this is something personal.
Last I checked, ESPN projected us at 17 wins, it could be less now.

Really? How many wins do we have since Christmas? 2?
Marks shut Lopez down last year and I would expect him to do so again.
5 wins is a very generous prediction this roster is on part with the 12-70 team for being bad.

Jagger:
But we did start off 4-5 with a healthy roster. I know it is wishful thinking, but we can hope that Nicholson and McDaniels are positives. Neither has established much in the NBA but it's apparent that Kilpatrick is nothing but a volume scorer that can't handle the ball for his life, and Randy Foye is virtually stealing minutes, so if the two guys I first mentioned can play like a normal NBA player we might just perform better.
You are right when you say that our trend has been very bad.... it's alarming to see us so uncompetitive at this time.

No one cares as much as when the season started. The players are not going to play with the same level of purpose they did when anything is possible in the beginning of the season. These guys have had their spirits broken.
Not to mention that the league figured us out. We caught teams off guard who weren't prepared for Lopez shooting 3s.
This team has one NBA level starter and that is Brook. Everyone else is backup level, including Lin.
