I think we all know that the real answer to this question is Warren Beatty. He certainly jumped to the top of my list after tonight.

Guys, we have to stop looking at this award as a "if he doesent play and our team loses, that means hes the MVP" type of award.

The reward has always gone to the player whos having the best season statistically, and whos team is also a top team.

Westbrook and Harden are having CLEARLY better seasons then lebron, they also arent sitting out games for "rest".

I wouldn't say 'clearly'. Lebron has a great season too. Jh and rw have more flaws than lbj, but their offensive impact just move to the next level.

In the case of mvp award, it goes to best player of best team, which is (in the past) 1st and 2nd seed. This is why i dont see rw taking it. I'd say rather jh 3rd seed is acceptable for voters to give 10 points and he is frontrunner.

But saying by people nobody else stand a chance is rather funny.

Yea but this year is different because WB is averaging a triple-double, which hasn't been done in over 50 years. So that makes a huge difference, otherwise a 7th seed wouldn't have a chance

If he ramps it up post-All Star like he usually does (pre-AS last year: 25/7/6.5/57% TS; post-AS last year: 26/8/7/62.5% TS) and the Cavs eclipse 60 wins, I think he'll have a decent chance. But I think Harden's gonna get it this year. He's been hyped up since the beginning of the season along with Westy, while Bron and Kawhi have flown under the radar a little. And then there's KD and Curry, but I doubt either will win it.

That's something that I think people have kind of forgotten about with the Cavs, is all the games that players have missed. They've only had their title winning starting 5 for like 15 games this year. It's a big part of why their record is "underperforming", probably 5-6 wins left on the table because of the lack of bench and makeshift rotations.

And yea, ironically, Harden at this point it's really dependent on his supporting cast and how many games they win, rather than his actual performance at this point, he's already earned that half of the gig.

Westbrooks only hope in my eyes is them going on a streak and finishing with 50 wins and close enough to the Rockets to shift some votes.

Really think it's Hardens award to lose at this point though. He's had the MVP train going since mid November and had 0 expectations going into the season. Which cannot be said for anyone else in the running, which if we really get down to it, probably is just as big of a factor as anything else.

It depends how you view the award

If it's which player is the best in the nba and the most valuable to their team overall it's Lebron James

If it's which team is overachieving the most then It's Hardens Rockets and the person responsible is James Harden

As long as rockets stay top 3 in the west I would go with Harden for now due to the fact Lebron is coasting through the regular season

I wouldn't write off westbrook because of the triple doubles but think he would need to get close to 50 wins to have a real shot.

The only case Kawhi has is wins, and nothing else.

LeBron beats him in nearly every major category statistically. I have a hard time believing the media will vote for a Spurs player anyways, unless it's runaway obvious, and even then, who knows.

Not to mention, both players have the same record when actually on the floor 41-12. Cavs are 0-5 without LeBron while the Spurs are 4-1 without Kawhi.

So even at this point the "team record" doesn't really give him any boost. Unless players get credit for wins they didn't participate in.

This whole "LeBron is resting" thing is kind of hypocritical for any player outside of Harden and Westbrook, all other players who have any chance have missed games.
